I have Windows 8 64-bit on my laptop. When I try to connect to the server with the correct details, FileZilla says "Connection attempt failed with "EACCES - Permission denied".".

FileZilla connects to the server, using the EXACT same login details when I try using it with Windows 7. However I cannot use my Windows 7 computer all the time and my Windows 8 one is my main computer. The full debug report is available below.

hi I love filezilla and i work with it all day long. I face an issue only with my notebook (samsung sf510, windows 7, intel embeded graphics card) the toolbar became white and "break" when the command status monitor start scrolling. If I pass the mouse over the toolbar I restore the "view" of this certain point back to normal.

FileZilla version 3.7.1.1 Windows 7, service pack 1. Issue discovered when connecting over a secure SFTP-SSH protocol connection. The Last modified date of a .txt file is showing the year 2010, when it should show 2013. This only occurs over the secure connection, not in any regular FTP connection protocol. This is not an issue with the remote site as a different FTP program used at my institution displays with the correct 2013 date. Attaching .png screen shopts of both for examples.

I have been trying to use filezilla to upload a site but, Critical error keeps appearing. I am 100% certain my login details are correct so i don't know what the problem is.

These steps will reproduce the problem:

1. Establish a FTP connection to a server.
2. Edit a file on the server by right clicking it and choosing "View/Edit": File opens in your editor.
3. Change the edited file with a script language like PHP: The editor doesn't display the changed file! Even if you choose "View/Edit" again, the old version gets displayed.

If you download the file to your HDD, you see the changes.

Well, since some weeks, when I change either local or remote folders and I go back to de initial folder, it's not focused at the beginning but in the middle of the folder. It's really annoying...

I use two monitors, and when I want to upload a file, which already exists, I get an alert. But the alert doesn't appear on that screen where the filezilla program is opened. Instead, the messege appears on the other monitor in the background.

Upload on Filezilla 3.7.0.2 of css files from Win7 to GoDaddy arrive corrupted and with smaller file sizes. I upgraded to 3.7.1 and found I could not connect at all, so I downgraded. When files are uploaded directly through GoDaddy they arrive intact.

FileZilla crashes when I try to delete 350,000 some things from the to do list

Our sFTP site is populated with files from our File Shares. When opening FileZilla, the access to these shares is excruciatingly slow, often taking over a minute to populate with the files found on the drive (none of which are over 1MB). The access to these shares are not slow when accessed through any other means (Windows Explorer, for example).

Hi there, please bear with me as I am new to this type of forum. I have used filezilla for quite sometime now and up til recently have had no problems. However, now when I try to connect, my monitor goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor and a white rectangular small box in the upper left corner...almost like a DOS screen. . I can do control alt delete and my screen appears normal again, however when I try to download a file, the same thing happens.Also Task manager is open when I clear the black screen I have installed the latest vs of filezilla, also uninstalled and reinstalled it and same thing. I use XP and IE8. any help or insight will sure be appreciated. thanks!

I'm using Kubuntu gnu/linux 12.04. I have downloaded and installed Filezilla directly from your site. I've been using it in this Kubuntu distribution for about a week now (few days).

Today when using the Site Manager after configuring several sites, I find that when I click on "Connect" or "Ok" Filezilla just crashes and goes away. This is happening to me all the time and is not allowing me to use the Client (will I have to go look into another one after using Filezilla in Windows for 6 years?).

So this is just going on when turning on the "Site Manager", choosing one site from the list and then clicking on "Connect" or "Ok" -it happens with either-, then Filezilla just crashes.

Wanted to report this as it's very odd. Never happened to me before/

I'm running Filezilla 3.7.1.1 on Archlinux with the libgnutls 3.2.2 and can't download any file on a FTPES enabled server.

I have tested with LFTP and gnutls 3.2.2 and it works, then I have rollback'd the gnutls lib to the previous 3.2.1 version and filezilla also works.

I have attached both client and server logs at the debug level.

Hello, I try to use Filezilla in my network with windows server 2012 and only works if i disable the firewall. I create all the firewall rules to permit Filezilla and cant work.

In a filter, I specified: to be excluded if it "contains" a "~".

I have several DIRECTORIES named ".../UBS~/..." or ".../~Stuff/..." which the filter is not excluding. I also tried "begins with" and "ends with", but neither of those seem to work either.

I am using Filezilla for sending some files from my pc to MVS system. My pc file is bigger than my mvs file and I am using SITE TRUNCATE command for truncating rows. But this command is not working with filezilla.

Upgraded from 3.7.1 to 3.7.2. Installed. Main and welcome screen appeared. Clicked on "Quickconnect" drop down arrow and selected (already existing) account and Filezilla crashes.

An attempt to restart Filezilla displays the message "Could not find the resource files for FileZilla, closing FileZilla. / You can set the data directory of FileZilla using the '--datadir <custompath>' commandline option or by setting the FZ_DATADIR environment variable."

Downgraded to 3.7.1 which works for me without problem.

I upgraded my OS to Windows 7. Ever since then the message log window in my Filezilla client is in this extremely small font. It is not like this in any other application so changing the font size in Windows will change applications which are displaying correctly. My version of Filezilla is 3.7.3. I have attached a picture of the Filezilla as well as the clipboard of the message log.

I have no direct connection to the Internet and I`m using "Generic proxy". Check for program updates hangs when connecting through a proxy server eg TinyProxy on starting TLS connection(Why TLS?).

Hint: After setting debug-mode to 3 for testing and a restarting the filezilla-client just one time the directory was displayed correctly, but that could not be reproduced yet. This might have been a coincidence but leads me to the assumption that timing might be an issue here.

Hey there i have 2 directory that wont delete in filezilla they are:

I right click on them and press yes to delete then i get this respone: 550 failed to change directory & error faile to retrive directory listing.

Could you fix that for me and delete those 2 directory

After updated to Filezilla Client ver. 3.7.3, the Chinese characters (Chinese (TW))that can displayed correctly in previous version becomes 'Symbols" now. It can only display English characters even I changed language option in "Preference" from system default to Chinese (TW).

I'm using capistrano for deployment.

This creates a datestamp-named folder and updates a symlink called "current".

In FileZilla, refreshing the directory containing this symlink doesn't update the target.

I guess that the destination of the symlink is cached, but can't be in this situation.

Good Morning, today I noticed several times the same problem: copying a lot of files (500~1000) to an empty folder I receive (randomly) the message: "the target file already exists, please chose an action ..." In the message box the first file has the correct size, the second file has a size of ZERO byte. I think may be a problem in the creation and copy of the file. I get an "error writing xml file" and several others attached when I try to launch the program. Downloaded it 3X and same thing each time. Wouldn't quit. Had to force quit to move on. Worked fine on the PC.

after installing filezilla i changed the default texteditor from notepad to notepad++ Filezilla shows the notepad++ icon on files associated with it, but still opens the files with notepad.

This is an issue that we have observed over the past several years, but have worked around. I just figured perhaps I should inform you because the workaround is getting to be a pain. We use Filezilla to move data folders from our Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrometers to individual students' and researchers' computers for data processing. These folders contain a mixture of ASCII and Binary files. When one downloads a data folder with the Transfer Type set to "Auto" the result is corrupted data, presumably because Filezilla fails to recognize the Binary files as distinct from the ASCII files. When one sets the transfer type to "Binary", everything works just fine. The thing is, "Auto" should recognize these files and it apparently does NOT. Each year we introduce a new crop of students to using our spectrometers and the concepts of moving data and inevitably the need to switch data modes gets lost in the shuffle. I would really appreciate it if you guys could fix this.

Version 3.7.3 of Filezilla. Explicit TLS connection to FTP server. Passive mode. Directory listing fails for any directory. Trace attached with sensitive information removed.

I'm using FileZilla client version 3.7.3 and trying to connect to a FTP server. I can connect to the server just fine manually via command shell FTP from my system. I can tell it's running FileZilla server because the output of 'remotehelp server' tells me so.

My FileZilla client never shows folders/files in the remote pane. There's just a message that says 'Not connected to any server'. During the connect process the activity log shows the following and just keeps re-attempting over and over again:

The settings on my client are..... General Tab: Ftp Protocol, Use Plain FTP, Logon Type is Normal. Username & Password set. Advanced Tab: Default (AutoDetect) for server. Nothing else set. Transfer Settings: Transfer mode is Default. Nothing else set. Charset: autodetect. Nothing else set.

I don't have access to the server files to be able to apply the workaround for the preceding seemingly well known issue. Any idea if someone is working on a permanent fix?

i set a max of 1 connection for a server in site manager and after connecting i see filezilla uploading with 5 connections simultaneously to that server.

I am transferring files from one computer to another and it does not preserve the date/time information. Under transfer, I have a checkmark by the line to preserve that information.

When I use FileZilla to transmit large .txt files, it sometimes sends them over and over again until I catch it. Obviously this causes problems in my workflow and that might be the case for other people too.

When using the Windows command line ftp program, I am successful in connecting to a site, getting a directory listing, and transferring a file. However, after successfully loggin in, the FileZilla GUI fails when it asks for a directory listing.

Bug's Trigger :

1. Do a Site Connect by clicking on the Site Manager's dropdown button and choose the site I want to connect
2. Connection occurs
3. After a successful connection, the bug appears on the Toolbar
4. Look of the Toolbar seems to be weird / not normal
5. I tried to change the theme by going to Edit > Settings > Interface > Themes > and select the other theme options than those currently in use
6. Look of the Toolbar return to normal view

When we login with Filezill all time stamps that we FTP'd show 7 hours behind PST. GMT is 7 hours ahead. PST time 2:22PM time of file Filezilla 7:22AM GMT is 9:22PM

How do we fix this?

I'm using Filezilla for a couple of years now to copy files to and from my mediacenter hard-drive. Everything worked fine till today. When connecting to the disk (in this case acting as an ftp server), it shows all my drives as files. And therefore they won't open up in Filezilla. I'm just getting odd error messages like "file copy failed". I tried another FTP-application and it opens up fine, also when using Firefox, there are no problems at all.

I also tried re-installing Filezilla and we are using the latest version of the software on Windows 7 Professional SP1.

After installing the latest version of Filezilla (version info at the bottom) I noticed that I cannot move the FileZilla window around the desktop. It is fixed in the location in which it opened.

I've tried clickng and dragging, closing and reopening FileZilla to no avail. The window is stuck in a single location. I click & hold on the top of the window (as you normally would) to move the window and nothing happens.

When I chose an option from my servers list, the option I chose stays on the screen, like floating. Check the image for more info. Quitting FZ doesn't remove it.

When I upload a file it uploads fully then restarts the upload infinitely. It will not save to location. I've tried all the different options for "action after queue completion" but none seem to let the fully uploaded file enter my directory.

I have installed two sftp servers in windows 7. I always use filezilla client for any connection and all works right. But in this special case with windows, I got the problem that the date reported in remote sever by filezilla was very wrong. The client reports a datetime near in 1969 year, but the files were modified in this year 2013.

By the way I'm using ubuntu.

I tried another client GFTP and the date error dissapeared. Please fix it.

If I try to upload the files individually, it tells me that the file already exists (it does not), so I can choose to overwrite it or rename it (I've tried both)and it says it transferred successfully, but the client cannot find the files on the server and it is reported as 0MB.

I keep on getting a critical error and could not connect to server error. I have tried resubmitting my password a few times and closing FileZilla. But nothing is working.

filezilla on download completion want's to rewrite download file.problem just started after windows updates where installed.

I am seeing any new files added to a RHEL 5.x box using SFTP, shows file having Last Modified date that are in the future. I have seen the bug here in tickets, but it seems to just get dismissed ? If I go local to the server via ssh the dates are correct locally. I have checked the ntp server, the date/time, zones, on server and client and everything is in order. My client machine is a Windows 7 Pro sp1 64bit os.

As I understand it this is the OS killing the Filezilla process due to the default security settings. If the OsX setting is altered to 'Anywhere' Filezilla runs up as expected.

The 'Bug' I wanted to report is that for some reason, I assume due to the way the application runs up; there is no display to state why the application didn't run, it just silently fails to start. Other applications trigger an OS pop up stating that the application can't be run due to the current settings, and appear in 'System Preferences >> Security & privacy >> General' with the option to allow them anyway.

Immediately upon connecting and at the time that the local site and remote site locations are displayed the scrolling message log listing overwrites the toolbar and quickconnect bars. Been using your product for many years, love it. But recently I went the sftp for security reasons. I have noticed that at the end, the directory listings do not automatically refresh like it use to do. I have to manually refresh to see the uploaded file at the ftp site. Not a real big deal, just thought maybe you would like to know about it. The file I just uploaded does not show up at the ftp site without doing the refresh. Its there, just refresh is broken.

When you try to right click and rename a file in the FTP window of the remote server the whole client freezes , you can't upload files , edit files or close the app without killing the app in system monitor.

When you edit files while a queue is being processed, there is a rare chance of having two dialogues open at the same time, cancelling each other out.

That's because when you edit files, there is a chance of the "Selected file already being edited" dialogue popping up. After this dialogue shows, a second dialogue can pop up, asking the user whether to overwrite an already existing file, since the queue is still running in the background.

This results in a freeze, since neither the dialogues nor the main program can be closed anymore.

Hi, We are using Win 8.1 for an OS. We have to force FileZilla to close because it say's "Files still being edited" when no files are still active.

I've updated Filezilla, updated my browser to OS X Maverick, re-installed and older version of filezilla, and nothings helped.

Other applications on the mac automatically move to the primary (laptop) screen when disconnecting external monitors. Combined with the inability to move the screen around this results in an invisible client's window.

FileZille is adding additional and unwanted line breaks to my .html files.

Transfering files form Ubuntu server to Windows 7 PC

This happens to me farely often, I will click a file slowly twice usually by accident, and then right click (my initial intended action). If you right click in that text box that appears after the slow double click it freezes everything. I can still Exit through global menu but that is about it.

I think i am an overclicker so this may not have come up for other people :)

I am using Ubuntu 13.10 and filezilla 3.7.3 I have had this issue for a long time over several versions of each.

Just tested on OSX and it is not an issue there.

I recently installed Parallels on my Mac and since then have been experiencing errors with FileZilla that I did not have prior to Parallels. I am wondering if there is some sort of compatibility issue? Here are the issues I’ve been encountering.

I cannot access any SFTP sites. The user name and passwords are correct, (double checked with the site owner), but it will never let me connect. FTP works as far as pulling up the site, but disconnects me from actually making any changes.

This is the most recent error code I received : Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server

I am the only person in my office experiencing this issue with the same sites, and the only one running parallels, thus leading me to believe it's a parallels issue?

Remote FTP site shows 00 seconds on the time stamp even though the file actually have second information. Attached is a sample of the local file side by side with the same file in the remote ftp site. The local file shows the seconds and the remote file shows 00. Those 2 files are the identical the file was download from the FTP site using another FTP client and put in the local folder. No matter which file you see all files last modified shows 00 seconds.

With the latest update, when I log into a site that generates command output that causes the window to scroll, the toolbar gets overwritten. It seems that the boundaries of the output window is put over the toolbar. After the toolbar gets obscured, hovering over most of the icons returns them to view.

I have a website with an IDN name, demægtigevikinger.dk. On mac (OSX 10.9.1) the name is displayed as: /demægtigevikinger.dk

I can live with that, but FileZilla Client for mac creates duplicates of the folder when I upload and setting "Default remote directory" does not work. My work around is currently to sync to a Windows 7 PC via git and use FileZilla from Windows.

I will try to attach a screen shot to the ticket after submission.

Currently sorting directories and files on the Local side of Filezilla Client results in Upper Case directories being sorted above lower case directories. I have attached a screenshot to show. This also happens for files.

Using version 3.7.3 the options 'Overwrite if newer' works correctly. However, after upgrading to version 3.7.4.1 all files are overwritten even if the files have the same timestamps.

I tested it with identical directories and files. First I uploaded files with version 3.7.3. Everything works as expected. Only files that actually were newer got transferred. Then I set-up exactly the same files and directories and use version 3.7.4.1. All files were transferred, even the files having identical timestamps.

I also noticed that the files have correct identical timestamps in the treeview (see attachment for just one file).

Settings the server timezone offset +1 solves the wrong file-overwrite behavior. However then the times in the treeview are not displayed correctly.

Everyone within my company is now having issues connecting to the FTP with filezilla client. We are using a Linux server with Debian Operating System for our file server. I have researched this issue but none of the solutions I have found have helped. Are there compatibility issues? Can someone please help me figure this out.

Each time the application is launched a line is appended to filezilla.xml with the following text <Setting name="Language Code" />

The line is appended to the end of the file not inside the <Settings> tag.

Windows, version 3.7.4.1. Imagine I attempt to transfer/upload 20 files to my FTP site (not FileZila server). My FTP server supports 10 connections. I set the transfer to support 10 connections. Sometimes, the server fails with code 530 (see log below).

Bug is, when that happens, it doesn't attempt to re-try file upload.

I have attached a log file. In is it the initial attempt to upload the files. Then, there are 2x more attempts to upload the files that didn't initially transfer.

I understand that the retry logic is tricky. However, the minimum it should do is -- at the end of the transfer, it could show a dialog saying something like "7 of 20 files failed to transfer".

I frequently upload a file "roster.php". It has always worked the first time, But, over the past month or so it indicates "Accepted data connection" followed by another request if I want to overwrite the existing file. I respond yes and it repeats the sequence about three times then then says file transfer failed. But when I look at the file the file has been updated. It didn't fail after all. Today I chose to hit cancel in the 2nd request to verify that I wanted to overwrite the file.It then told me that the file transfer was successful. I've attached a screen clip. Now that I know that all I have to do is hit cancel I can live with it, but thought you should know.

Message Log window is corrupting the Toolbar above it in all versions.

In attempt to install FileZilla_3.7.4.1_win32-setup.exe the anti-virus program: AVG AntiVirus 2014 reports that the mentioned file - FileZilla_3.7.4.1_win32-setup.exe - is a virus, called:

MalSign.InstallCore.AFD

Please, let me know if this is really virus or not?

1 On OS X only, connect to FTP, go to a folder with files on the server.

2 Press Cmd-A to select all files on ftp server > count shows total number and total size.

3 Click 1 file > makes 1 file showing as selected, but selection count is not updated, still shows total count, incorrect.

4 Continuing now with a multiple selection (using Cmd key) makes it even more messy, the count is increasing or decreasing depending on whether you click above or below a selected file.

Upon trying to install FileZilla Client 3.8.0 from the website https://filezilla-project.org/ I was warned by my Bullguard antivirus software that a virus had been detected: Gen.Trojan.Heur2.GZ.PG2@baUQfqpi. Infected object: ids.sourceforgedn.com. Infected file: KLFst.pyr.exe.pat. Should I worry about this?

Limit size of logfile doesn't really follow the size user set. it is always limit to 10KiB even when I set 1000 in box. And the box display in unit of MiB but I think program actually set the size in unit of KiB. But it really doesn't matter since program doesn't take any value from user's settings.
