Sonoma 14.3.1 3.2 GHz 8 core intel Xeon W; Fresh install (not Time Machine and not using a migration Wizard)

Filezilla Client 3.66.5 installed with Mac installer.

Problem statement: OS 14.3.1 does not give Filezilla permission to Filezilla to write a file to the home directory. "Errol loading queue" happens upon start up, followed by "Error writing XML file". Filezilla functions normally, but doesn't load or save its state information.

See attached screen shots:

1. Shows pop up windows associated with the errors. Both pop up indicate a failed attempt to write to my home directory: /Users/sara/.

2. Shows the window the "Privacy & Security" -> "Files and Folders" window. Filezilla is not given permission to access /Users/sara/. Nether is LibreOffice and Matlab_R2023b. Further, I can find no way to add the home directory to any of these programs.

3. Shows that some programs can and do have access to the home directory. I did standard install for Anaconda.

4. Privacy and Security allows programs to have full access to the disc. I am reluctant to use this solution. It would seem to go against Apple's attempt to improve security.

I see three solutions A. change the store path to /home/sara/Documents in your installation. B. allow the user to change the path. C. I give full disc access. I would prefer A. or B.

During a 150GB transfer got a pop up stating:

fzsftp.exe - Application error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142) Click OK to close Application.

Meanwhile transfers got interrupted in the background but filezilla remained open. Clicking OK did not make the window go away and error persisted until I closed down Filezilla manually. It looks like one of those popups got shown for each transfer thread (I had 4 simultaneous transfers).

In Event Viewer in Windows I see the following:

FileZilla does not appear to support client-certificate auth (no password) mode. Examples where this does work via cURL include:

I can provide output and trace logs if desired, but since the traces show certificate detail, I'd prefer not to do it in public.

RFC 2228 specifically states that the server can accept AUTH info as sufficient for login, and provides FTP response codes for doing so, bypassing the PASSWORD prompt.

The ability to specify a certificate for a particular connection profile would help here, keeping the connection from trying the wrong certificate (this would also help SFTP connections avoide the error noted in bug report 8476 (​http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/8476)

trying to upload a file i am debugging to my website after the site file has given me an error of its own. frequently seems to be a file containing PHP.

BUT, if after i get several of these can't transfer errors (by retry) i can invariably restart FZ and the file can be transferred immediately, no problems. if i recall, a disconnect reconnect did not fix the issue.

Hi, I always receive an error message when opening Filezilla on my Windows7 64-bit PC. The message says: "The file 'C:\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Filezilla\filezilla.xml' could not be loaded. No document element found at offset 40678. For this session the default settings will be used. Any changes to the settings will not be saved.

I've seen previous tickets you've said to "repair" the xml file in a text editor, but not stated what exactly to repair it with. When I open my filezilla.xml file in textedit, there is no content.

What should it contain?

This started quite a few updates ago. I searched for the symbol using gdb and can't find it. I suspect either libfilezilla or WXwidgets but haven't searched those yet. I have updated WXwidgets, libfilezilla and filezilla. Ubuntu 14.04 is also current with all updates.

apparently this does not happen with the unix version, tech support tells me (or he's just on top of the network and gets no delays, and thus no lockout after 5 minutes).

"rssh" is a ssh-only shell that should work with any SFTP implementation... from the man page:

When I connect to a linux host (Ubunutu HH 8.04 LTS x86-32) from a Mac OS X or Linux x32 client using Filezilla client, if the user I connect as has the shell set to "bash" - everything works properly.

If I connect to the same user again, having changed the shell to "rssh", it fails. See output below: (first is succssful, bash-shell connect, second is failed rssh-shell connect)

when transferring files if a error happens they don't go in the "not completed" windows but everything seems to run ok and get added in the transfer completed window

I add this association: config "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe"

Now my file is filename.Config. Edit this file will open in VisualStudio.

Changing to: Config "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe"

will solve but it is good to ignore case.

i regularly perform backups of all kinds of files with filezilla client and i use it a lot. actually, reliability has been an issue before. i even noticed files that were not entirely transfered. actually, i don't if this has been fixed by now. but back then i noticed, files were not fully transfered. so i went back and had to transfer it directory after directory to make it work.

and i've lost files before. but this time it's very critical. and i don't talk about the files. a website or application never runs if even one or two files are missing. but the loss this time is severe.

the trouble is, i can re-list "not transfered" files. but now filezilla ALWAYS says, not all files were put back in the transfer list. and i mean ALWAYS. every time i tried and try, i had this message and with different file formats. no matter if there were only 4 entries in the "not transfered" list, 40 or 400.

two days ago i started a major backup and after only a few thousand files and this message coming again and again i started checking and within a few thausand transfered files i've lost like 700 files!!! meaning even after like 1/6 of the backup i've lost more than 1000 files!!!

the entries just disappear from all lists. they don't go back to the transfer list and they are cleared in the "not transfered" list. it's not quite funny to backup lost files by hand. especially if there are hundreds or thousands. but that is not even possible when they are cleared in all lists! backing up some thousand files of different purpose and directories, you have no chance to find out the missing files. actually, today i tried to backup the most important files and again i've lost a lot of files. just now i re-listed 1772 files, 12 were in the list before and after re-listing i had 1756. meaning, 28 files are gone in only this one re-listing.

i didn't notice this trouble before and especially not to this extent. i'm using a german version and it says it's compiled on may 26th ... and it's says, version is 3.7.0.2. wxwidget 2.8.12, gnutls 3.1.11, sqlite 3.7.16.2, active transfer mode ... hope that's everything you need.

you should really try to get filezilla highly reliable. i barely have trouble with the application, but reliability has always been an issue. and this application is for "file transfer". so, i don't know about other people, but my data is always important. so is reliability. i like filezilla and i've been using it for years. reliability would be a good "feature" to add.

I have a customer that has spaces in their user groups (why, because they can). FileZilla Client does not dislplay any filenames where the user group has spaces in it. If I chomd the files with a user group that does not have a space, the files list in the FileZilla client.

After I have uploaded a file to the server, it suddenly disappears after a little while. It can be anything from 2-20 minutes. I keep repeating it, and it happens every time. It seems like its just automatically being removed at certain intervals, but I cant quite figure out why and how it happens.

When I have a filename that has diacritics separated in the HFS+ manner (e.g. ä becomes a¨) I am able to upload complete folders of files to a remote system (Linux www 4.4.0-36-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 11 18:01:55 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) via sftp so that in the process the files end up as diacritics combined to the remote system filesystem (/dev/vda1 on / type ext4 (rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,data=ordered)).

Now, if I wish to enter into that folder, and having updated locally some files, I want to just attempt an upload on all files and select "overwrite if newer than target", It just happens that FileZilla correctly compares the filenames when determining whether it should ask me about what to do with the files with (virtually) identical filenames (a¨ on local HFS+ == ä on remote ext4). But, after that, it copies the files with diacritics uncombined this time, leaving duplicates with virtually identical filenames.

I digged a little further: if I then try to copy the file with combined diacritical marks (copying filenames to textwrangler document verified which one was which) from the remote side to local, filezilla shows two files on local directory like on remote side, but when you remove either of them, both get deleted (meaning maybe that there was only one file after all or then deleting local files function behaves inconsistently?). I really need this one fixed, please.

FileZilla (Latest version) works properly in the oldest PC (Panasonic CF53 with Windows 10) and I can connect and work (download and upload files) with the server without any problem

In the miniPC (New Intel NUC with windows 10) I have installed the latest Filezilla version. I can connect to the server but I can download only files with size less than 1000 byte!! Why?

My name is Matthew Crisp i am using filezilla version 3.7.3 on windows 7 ultimate. I use filezilla to upload sermons from my church to a radio station everything has worked great until filezilla done an update and now when i upload it gets to 100% and then starts back at 90% then the file size on the server is larger than local file size and when it plays on the radio the last 45seconds to 1 minute repeats itself i do not know what is causing it i have not tried to reinstall filezilla yet, is that a suggestion to start with first? thanks Matthew Crisp

xml file of sites is aved and imported, all entries are being added again for each import instead of being override if identical. on client 3.2.5 (latest)

When trying to upload a file that already exists, I press cancel on the box that asks whether I want to overwrite, and the file is then added to the successful transfers tab, so it makes me think it was uploaded anyway, even though I clicked cancel, I don't think it's a bug since the file isn't uploaded, but it's confusing.

But there is one feature i'd love to see: git support (or version control support in general) So i don't have to check which files i edited before i upload, for example git can tell me those changes.

a feature to enable/disable. this feature may analyses the queue and sets rules for files or at least the option to fast switch this.

filezilla apparently handels file attributes in the sftp protocol by parsing the "longname" of the SSH_FXP_NAME resoponse packet. since the format of the longname in sftp version 3 is not specified and the SSH_FXP_NAME contains an ATTRS field which contains explicit attributes for each filename it would make more sence to use them instead of the longname: ​http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-02#section-7

furthermore filezilla parses the longname in a false way. Symbolic links have in the longname the letter "l" on the first position instead of "-" for files or "d" for directories. but filezilla shows symbolic links always as directories regardless of the target it links to, which is wrong.

In the window for customizing file associations, filezilla shows an example command line instruction for creating the association. The instruction for the mac version starts with c:\program files\... which is for Windows OS instead of MacOS.

Version 3 changed the drag and drop behavior from dropping in the current folder, to dropping into the subfolder closest to the pointer. This is not typical OS behavior, and would be very difficult to get used to. Please revert to the previous behavior, or provide an option to do so.

FYI, for this and other reasons (file edit function removed in version 3), I've reverted to version 2. Version 2 is a great tool, but I think version 3 is going in the wrong direction.

When backing up my websites (Joomla), I notice that I have a lot more speed available to download but it takes the content of directories to slowly. Meaning if you have many directories with only 2 to 3 files but have 7 simulta. transfers going way to long to create the Queue for files to download. I am using V3.8 on Godaddy hosting. The queue is most of the time empty. It should fill the queue for downloading much faster.

filezilla2 had the option to chose "open". this used the default program, set in file options in windows. my windows file settings made a .htm file open in notepad.

this way i was able to:

In settings, there are options to set default double-click options when browsing directories, but when downloading from the search window, settings must be confirmed each time as to whether or not to keep the directory structure intact, download now/later, etc. I would like to be able to set my preferred actions for downloading from a search as defaults so that I can simply double-click a file from search results instead of going through these extra steps every time. Also, if I could have an option with this to automatically create a "downloads" folder in the current folder of my local directory, that would be more beneficial to me than the name of the remote directory. I.e., I regularly go on and download reports from directories called 2017 and 2018, and I do want them kept in separate folders from the current files I'm creating using the old data, but I would prefer they be together in a single folder instead of their respective separate folders. So, for example, if I am working in a May 2018 folder, and need to download two files on a single project that happen to be from separate years, I would like to highlight the two files, hit Enter, and have the program automatically create a "downloads" folder in my May 2018 folder and push both the 2017 and 2018 file into it.

Can we have a preference in the Edit--settings to allow us to turn off the Local Site tree pane? Like many people, I prefer using my computers' built in file browsing services and then dragging and dropping to and from the remote window. I know it is possible to make the local site tree pane smaller, but just seeing it there is annoying.

As there are lots of broken servers out there, an option to disable the timezone detection completely seems to be reasonable. The effect simply is that all dates parsed are considered UTC.

When tabbed connections are available, and you select a tabbed connection other than the first one (before exiting) ... ... then (after restart) the directory tree pane of first tab is resized when you select it again.

Similar uncontrolled resizing happens when just playing with the pane layout selection. The sizes/positions should be memorized per option, so that the same picture is generated in each cycle.

on most ftp systems, root directory == user directory (and it make no difference)

when - for security reasons - account is chrooted, then slash from beginning point outside user directory and the path can't be found

so runing cd /directory will fail, but when you login (your current directory is set to /data) and try cd directory (relative path) everything will work fine.

so the whole bug is about removing 1st slash from directory path. (only 1st, because path like (s)​ftp://user:password@host//data/directory should work - in this case your using absolute path)

such way of parsing path is used for example in FF (and other programs)

Steps to reproduce:

• connect to a server
• wait some time, so the connection times out
• upload a file: filezilla will automatically reconnect in order to upload the file
• wait until the upload finishes

Expected result:

• the remote directory listing should automatically be refreshed and you should see the file you just uploaded

Observed result:

• the remote directory listing is NOT refreshed, and you don't see the file you just uploaded

In the console window where you see all the commands and responses, you do see a message saying "directory listing succesfull", so I guess filezilla does retrieve the listing but it fails to show the updated directory listing in the display on the right.

If you manually refresh using the refresh button, then you'll see the directory listing refreshed including the just uploaded file.

This only happens when you upload a file after the connection has timed out (and filezilla automatically reconnects). If you are already connected when you do the upload, then the refresh does work correctly and you seen the refreshed list as soon as the upload is finished.

Hi, I have a remote directlory with over 10,000 files in it. I also have a copy that is on my PC. I'm trying to check that everything is consistent but I'm getting strange results e,g, the directory comparision is reporting files as being not present on the remote directory when they ARE there - I have checked! I think there's a bug as when I try to upload the file that is seen as 'missing' the file disappears from the listing of the remote directory!

I'd like to see a different local filesystem view, or the choice to change local views.

Something where the special windows folders are more easy viewable. (desktop, my documents etc) Possibly something like the notepad file dialog?

If i move my main client screen from the main monitor desktop to the secondary any dialog generated is not visible until I drag the client window. At this point it can be seen located on the main monitor desktop, partially transparent and locked to the movement of the client window.

If I drag the client window far enough in the opposite direction from the main monitor desktop I can grab the dialog and place it on secondary. Whilst the dialog is sitting on the secondary it remains locked to the movement of the client. If i then drag the dialog to the main monitor's desktop, the lock is broken and remains that way subsequently when moved back to the secondary.

After closing the dialog or client having adjusted the position of the dialog to be visible, the state is not retained.

I have not experienced this bug in any recent previous version of the client and it applies as far as I can ascertain to all dialogs, about, settings, connection manager, file overwrite etc.

In the case of there's files already existing on target directory in the transfer queue, but not at first position in the queue, and FileZilla Client is minimized in the systray :

When the file which already exist is pick in the queue, the dialog box (overwrite, resume, etc.) isn't show and "stay in the systray".

It's only when restoring FileZilla to a window that we see this dialog box.

So it could be a long time before launch the transfer.

Is it possible to always show these dialog box even when FileZilla is minimized ?

It would be good if the desktop entry file of FileZilla Client provided key "MimeType".

I don't know whether MIME Types for protocols other than FTP are defined and/or make sense but "x-scheme-handler/ftp" should sure be covered for a start which is what the attached patch does.

A unexpected behaviour led to a middle disaster, yesterday. We link to source of a TYPO3-installation via symlink so different installations use one source folder. I cleaned up the server and deleted a test installation with filezilla. Unfortunately fileziller deleted all files in the linked source folder, so all other TYPO3 instalations lost their source.

I just tried: mkdir deletetest fisch:~/public_html$ touch deletetest/eins fisch:~/public_html$ touch deletetest/zwei fisch:~/public_html$ touch deletetest/drei fisch:~/public_html$ ln -s deletetest/ testdelete

Now I deleted testdelete via Filezilla and got: fisch:~/public_html$ ls -l deletetest/ total 0 and still exits: 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 fisch fisch 11 Jul 28 19:39 testdelete -> deletetest/

Filezilla deleted the content of the linked folder, not the symlink itself. This is not, what I was expecting and can lead to big problems. This should be solved eg. behave as expected and deleting the symlink by default, giving an option in the setting dialog with a choice, how to behave or ask on deleting symlinks.

It would be great if you had the option of making one of the sites in Site Manager the default site, so it would automatically connect when FileZilla is launched.

FileZilla does not check if the saved last GUI screen position is still valid upon opening of the software.

• Dual screen system with desktop extension on a second monitor.
• Open filezilla and use it on the second monitor. Then close the program
• Disable the second screen, on a labtop remove the cable for example, the full desktop should now only show on the main/single screen.
• Open Filezilla, it is not visible (or completely visible) as it used the coordinates as if the desktop was extended.

The above is also true if only a fraction of the program is visible on the current desktop.

Solution check upon startup not only if the top-left coordinates are within the current visible desktop area but also if you can see a reasonable portion of filezilla on the desktop. If the top-left coordinate is just within the visible area than you still cannot use the program until you can drag it completely back on the current desktop area.

In Advanced tab, "Default remote directory" a spec of /homedir/user/ the ending slash used to be saved. Now you can specify it but it will be saved as /homedir/user (wo the slash).

According to POSIX the difference is with an ending slash it is considered to be only a reference to a directory. Without the slash it can be either a directory or the name of a file.

I found this to be a problem when using secure FTP versions at my new ISP, but not at my previous one. To compare your product some other ftp clients do save the ending slash.

I would like to see the ability to cut, copy, and paste files between both, local and remote directories.

Accordingly, cut/copy/paste icons should appear in the toolbar and in the right-click (drop-down) menu.

If this feature is ever implemented, then FileZilla would become, for my uses, a replacement for Windows Explorer.

I think it should be a menu like the "New" menu in Windows Explorer. And when the user clicks, for example, "New Text Document", FileZilla should create a new text document in the temporary directory and then upload it to the server.

All the other menu items should be also available:

1 - New Word document 2 - New Microsoft powerpoint etc.

That helps the user to create some customised template in Windows Explorer and use them in FileZilla. The user may want to create some templates like:

New HTML document New PHP file New Smarty template etc.

And he will be able to use these templates in FileZilla as well as Windows Explorer.

All this applies to KDE, GNOME and other graphical environments as well.

The ability to force the case on files being transferred in either direction to be either all lower or all upper case, or left alone.

Extremely useful when dealing with files generated by others that are in all sorts of weird cases, that shoule be one way or the other.

When a file is downloaded and invalid characters are replaced in filename on the client, directory comparison does not consider both files to be the same.

When transferring files the "file already exists dialogue" does not show date/time and size of the file to be overwritten.

Sometimes FileZilla connection seems to timeout or something similar. As leaving connection open for 15 minutes, returning and trying to upload. File will be added to upload queue but it wont be uploaded.

Trying to move around in server folder is also not possible.

Clicking disconnect and connect again fixes the issue. Or simply reconnect.

I updated FZ yesterday from 3.57.0 to 3.59.0 on Windows 10 and when I try connect to two different Ubuntu servers (sftp ssh protocol) I receive the same error message: Statut : Connexion à (IP):(port)… Réponse : fzSftp started, protocol_version=11 Commande : open "username@IP" port Erreur : Connection interrompue après 20 secondes d’inactivité Erreur : Impossible d’établir une connexion au serveur note that I have a second pc, with FZ still on 3.57.0, which work perfectly

Actually filezilla seems to accept only the private keyfile stored in the default settings from putty. The log shows that it checks only this one and not all keys added to pageant - so I always have to change putty's default settings if I want to access a server with a different keyfile. It will be more convenient to allow the preselection of the keyfile in the servermanager for each account separately. Maybe this could be achieved in a similar way like pscp which accepts a commandline like this one which I use from a perl script to update a file directly from an SciTE or Geany: pscp.exe -i keyfile -l user "localpath" host:remotepath. If the keyfile is loaded in pageant it will be used without an additional passphrase request.

I work on servers with multiple developers and we don't have a good solution in place for that. A great feature would be when you click the edit button it compares the date of your local file to the date of the remote file and if the remote file is newer than the local file it brings up a prompt and asks you if you want to download the remote file before editing. This should have an ability to turn this on or off in settings.

I've been very impressed with the FileZilla tool thus far. However, I can see a possible improvement. Hopefully, I haven't overlooked this functionality in the tool or it's documentation.

I'd like the ability to invoke FileZilla from the command line. If I had a FileZilla Queue saved to a file, I'd like the ability to from a command line do something like:

"C:\ftpdir\filezilla.exe 'myqueue.xml' - processQueue=quietly -logfile=myqueue.log"

and, without the interface opening up, see that FileZilla is processing the queue and putting the log information into the given log file.

Is this functionality present? Is it possible? Do you think it may be included in the future?

I'd like to see a command line option in the FileZilla client, allowing to pass a Custom Command to the server.

This would be valuable when scipting automated tasks on the client (the ability to perform remote execution of scripts on the server).

I would welcome the ability of queues in the list of the queued files to collapse/expand with a plus/minus sign. (Very much like folder usually do in many applications.)

Using FileZilla 3.2.7-rc1 each time the search dialog is closed the following lines appear in the message log: Status: Retrieving directory listing... Status: Directory listing successful

Furthermore, in case the connection has been closed because of a timeout FileZilla reconnects to the server.

Maybe FileZilla wants to refresh the remote directory listing after closing the search dialog (for the case something new has been discovered while searching). However, I don't understand why this should trigger a reconnect.

Like a lot of us, I am using 2 differents ADSL lines, from 2 differents company. I would love to be able to manually choose to which I send files by filezilla (as I don't own a dual wan router).

This enhencement would be a first in the field and would bring filezilla to the upper level.

I just was asked by a colleque who accidently deleted the files while transferring them from source to destination. Would it be possible to build in some kind of check so you cannot delete a file from the source if the the file is in the queue to be transferred.

when the directory of file has a lot of subdirectories and FileZilla asks to overwrite a file over an existing file, the options are moved out of window (because of long names in directory) and it's not possible to scroll horizontally or change the size of window.

The new Filezilla client does not list symbolic link that are on the sftp server.I am using surge fpt as server. I have a symbolic link in my home dir that is called sftp_data and i cannot see that link with the latest client and with a old client i can see it.

After latest update i cannot hold down shift button and select multiple folders. I cannot hold down ctrl button and select multiple folders. Before I could drag files from the local panel to the mail app icon in my dock, a new mail was created with the file as attachment. Noticed in 3.37.3 that this doesn't work any more.

make connection to dvi and then select file from pc to copy to dvi (toppfield). It says transfer was successful but file did not appear in target directory. can copy file to other folders on the dvi. folder that having problem with is called MediaFiles and is used to play mp4 files on the dvi for viewing on the TB.

Filezilla 3.5.1 cannot connect to sftp servers with either key based or password based methods. Logs with debuging/verbose=3 attached.

I have verified that this is not a function of my system by repeating on an independent box with the same results. As well, I am pretty sure that nothing is wrong with the server because I used "sftp -P 34451 facade@mars" from a shell and connect just fine. As well, using gftp, I am able to connect. The Host OS is Archlinux x86_64 which is up-to-date (Arch is a rolling release).

I want to connect to ftp.digiland.it associated to IP 213.209.17.162 but filezilla always points to IP 212.48.15.179
