Feature request: That ALT+d be used as a keyboard shortcut/hotkey to access the hostname input box.

This is in keeping with the same being used in firefox, windows explorer, etc.

This feature would streamline connecting to hosts, especially anonymous ftp sites requiring no credentials (such as open source repositories).

Currently, the host input box is the default focus on application launch. However, re-accessing the box via keyboard is not possible (at least in Win10) via alt+h due to "help" menu also being alt+h.

After a transfer is complete there is no indication as to what in fact was transferred. Have some indentification on the file that was last transferred an that will make it easy to delete it without having to search the files.

Uploading large files (1GB) using high-speeds networks, (speeds in excess if 8MB/Sec) fail with below error message

Applying FileZilla Speed-Limit clipping speed to 3000 KiB/Sec allows to transfer file successfully. Using FileZilla transfer speeds from 4000Kib/Sec --> "unlimited" speed option causes transfers to fail.

We have tested transfering same file(s) using HP-UX sftp client and these upload flawless, speeds seen 6-7MB/Sec.

I have come across a weird issue: FileZilla will open normally, but I am unable to connect to any FTP or fully close the program. By testing many released versions, I was able to track the starting point to version 3.36.0-rc1.

In version 3.36.0-rc1, FileZilla will start normally, and as soon as I try to connect to any FTP server, it will go to about 25-30% constant CPU usage on my quadcore CPU, and never finish connecting. I am unable to stop the connection attempt (the disconnect button is clickable but does nothing), and when I quit the program, the window will disappear, but it's still running in the background, still stuck at 30% CPU until I kill it via the task manager. From the server side, a connection attempt is seen and reaches "234 Using authentication type TLS" but then just stays there until the client is killed.

In version 3.47.2.1 (currently latest) the behavior is slightly different in that the high CPU usage starts right when FileZilla is launched, but other than that the problem presents itself identically to version 3.36.0-rc1.

Version 3.35.2 works just fine, and every version after this is affected by the problem. The problem has persisted through all OS updates since 3.36.0-rc1 was released back in 2018.

Looking at the changelog of the first version that shows the error, these are the official changes:

• Ask for explicit confirmation prior to falling back to insecure plaintext FTP if a server refuses to use TLS

• Warn if an FTP server refuses TLS that is known from previous connections to be capable of TLS

These changes don't look to me like they'd be related to the issue, so I assume that there has been some under the hood change that didn't make it into the changelog.

on my MacBook Pro, macOS Mojave 10.4.2 when I transfer files with TLS my CPU is on 110% using FileZilla long time but earlier never noticed this.

As a user I'd like to have the opportunity to have in my site manager cascading entries. In a lot of situations I have many entries related to the same server with the same account and maybe the only thing that change is the starting folder path. In such situations, I'd like to have the ability to configure the server once and then to create N descendant customized childs. This, for example, would prevent me to update N entries every time the main password change, allowing me to achieve the same result with only one password update.

Would be good if there werean option in FZ to hide the full FTP connection URL from tabs, to save space.

Since connection profiles have names anyway ("my site") this is sufficient information to display in the tab, not the profile name PLUS the whole connection URL, which means tabs are wider than they need be. In other words:

Hide address and login info in tabs which added to manager. Show only names of sites as added in site manager. Add option in interface menu in settings.

Add an option for each account to hide shared files with "hidden" attribute.

I have a large number of websites with the same or very similar directory structures. There is a risk I make errors and upload from the wrong directory.

On the local site pane, could you consider placing a user controlled optional padlock against a directory such that you cannot, when padlocked, navigate outside that directory and its children. Then have that directory included in the remembered profile for a particular ftp address.

Now when you open an ftp address you will have the relevant local file area showing.

I am unable to connect Filezilla app to my PS3 so I can use FTP

This bug has existed for me for at least a year and happens on 3 different PCs I use. If it has already been filed I apologize but could not find it.

What happens is that Filezilla doesn't "come to front" when clicking it in the taskbar. I am using Windows 10 on all these machines, I think the bug started when I upgraded to W10. As I said, it happens on multiple PCs.

The only way to bring Filezilla to the front, is to minimize all other windows in turn, and then it'll work. Clicking it in the taskbar does nothing. This bug can occur anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours after opening Filezilla. Closing and reopening Filezilla makes no difference the bug re-occurs.

When you create a new Site in Site Manager you have to insert "host" value filling in address and port text fields.

In many cases can happends that for more than one Site the same host is used (usually because more than one website is hosted on a single server) and, in some unfortunate circumstances, the IP address of the server change; when this occour I need to update all Site Manager Sites to reflect the new IP.

It will be great if I had a "Host List Manager", where I can create a Host with it's Label, IP, port, access type and so on, and then use this "Host Object" in the Site Settings as an alternative to directly input IP and port.

So, when the Host IP would change, I just need to update the "Host Object" to make all relate Sites use new IP or new Authentication certificate ecc, ecc..

Since this is something really useful for Agencies and Professionals, maybe could be more appetible for Pro version, but litteraly, I would pay for it!

The current versions of FileZilla and the FileZilla Server Interface have some colour issues. I recently changed my computer's colour scheme to be mainly white-on-black. Unfortunately it seems some of the text has been hardcoded to black, so I can't see any of it!

Is it possible to have it use the Windows theme-colours, or provide a customization option somewhere?

In the settings you have selected und 'File lists' that the 'double click action on files' is 'NONE'. When you have symbolic links on the server and you then double click the link the linked file is transfered with the name of the link. For us expected behaviour would be that nothing happens.

The behaviour is only experienced under Windows 7 !

How to reproduce this bug? First, you need to move your personal configuration (Default at C:\Users\*\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\) of FileZilla Client to some where else. Second, open the FileZilla Client in the simplified Chinese and open the site manager(站点管理器). Use the sftp protocol, and fill in the Host and Port. Choose the Normal(正常) Logon type, fill in the user name and password. Finally, Press Connect(连接).

What should be shown? A normal Message Box to ask me whether to save my password in the FileZilla Client.

What did you see instead? A much smaller Message Box. There is no confirm or cancel button on the Message Box which makes me get stuck in connecting to the server. And you can see it in the attached picture.

Upon completing a download, FileZilla always records the following:

Status: Disconnected from server Response: 421 Timeout - try typing a little faster next time Error: GnuTLS error -110: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated. I have noted previous responses to this from some years ago. I have successfully used filezilla with my server us.cloudlogin.co for about six years. Now, very occasionally, a directory maybe successfully opened and a file transfer made but very unreliably. Maybe one command out of ten will be successful with no apparent pattern. I have transferred the "filezilla" settings from the server directly as well as using manual settings with no difference. I used the wizard to ensure connection was potentially appropriate.

I've written up an appdata file for filezilla so it can be part of gnome-software in a more complete manner. Please find it attached. I'm going to update the Fedora package to include this file sometime this week so that it's picked up by gnome-software for Fedora 20.

It'll be great if this file can be included in future releases, and optionally, if the build system could install it to /usr/share/appdata. The installation isn't necessary, since us maintainers can do it manually too.

When I use the "Create a directory and enter it" option on the local side with a folder name ending in a dot (e.g. "A.T.O.M."), two new folders are shown on the top pane: "A.T.O.M" and "A.T.O.M." - this is because Windows doesn't support names ending in dots so the trailing dot is removed. If I leave the newly created directory and refresh the file list, the folder ending with a dot disappears.

I have version 3.37.1 of Filezilla Client. When I try to update to 3.37.4 I get the message, "FileZilla appears to be running." After aborting the installation, a check of task manager does not show any instances of FileZilla running. I tried several times with the same result.

When i upload files I got the message that files are uploaded but the server still have the old files. Please fix it.

on a German 1&1 (1 und 1, 1und1) server, if I download a whole directory incl. subdirs, after a while, I get many 425 errors, can not retrieve directory and can not download (as logged).

But if I go manually to one of that directories, I can see the contents and can download the files.

wxFileType::GetIcon() is not implemented in wxGtk. This patch replaces calls to wxTheMimeTypesManager and wxFileType::GetIcon() with calls to gnome.

Other platforms are not affected.

Synchronized browsing no longer works, although it is set in the account. After the warning that follows I can use CMD Y to set up the synchronization.

It would be nice to be able to use well-known interaction patterns from web browsers. Middle-clicking (and Ctrl-clicking) items in the Site Manager split-button drop-down should open new connection in new tabs.

It would also be good to update the 'Already Connected' current/new tab dialog to use two large buttons for the options.

I've ran into an issue where I cant use certain keyboard keys within any of the input boxes. When trying to enter control-a for example, my cpu spikes for about 30 seconds, and then either all of the text is selected (as its suppose to) or the command is just ignored.

Examples of keys/commands with issue: control-a control-x control-y backspace home/end

Note: The same behavior happens when I use Ubuntu's On Screen keyboard.

We have a need for GSS authentication, but without encryption after connecting. I believe Filezilla is essentially sending the "private" command to the FTP server.

Basically, we need the same functionality as if you started the unix command line 'ftp' without the '-x' option.

I'd be more than happy to work with your developers to make this happen.

This crash occurs at various place when in the program:

1. GNU TLS error-110 connection not properly terminated.
2. Connection could not be established ECONN aborted - connection aborted.

The encryption option I use is "explicit FTP over TLS, if available."

Sometime the connection will re=establish and let me proceed for a few more steps. This happens on both ftp servers at Go Daddy and Inmotion Hosting. te problem started in mid-late May I updated Filezilla and then reinstalled it later with Version 3.01.6.

Oh, sometimes when I manage to upload files they upload with 0 Bytes. I have been using Filezilla for many many years and never had a problem until now.

A full screen feature for Mac OS X would be an improvement in usability of the application, which would make it easy to switch from FileZilla to Safari for instance.

I sucessfully transfered more than 100'000 files from an archive to local. The log pannel of sucessful transfers contains the 100'000 names of files. I select all the log by ctrl-a and press the del key.

It takes about 5 minutes to clear the list - a huge time.

Observation: at the beginning of the freeing, memory is released by 5ko/interval (monitoring the processes), than by 24 ko/interval and finally at 200ko/interval. I bet that the algorithm used fro freeing the list and memory is not optimal.

The same "long time" was observed at least 3 times and is always present.

When the list is "short", the time is short - a few seconds or so. Is a much faster ?

Dear friend, I bought the filezilla pro version 3.66.5 but I cannot access filezilla. I get the message of no permission to open C:\user\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\sitemanager.xml. Site manager cannot be used until the file is fixed.

Currently Filezilla handles its own DNS requests, even when using a socks4a proxy. It'd be cool to have just the site name sent to the socks4a proxy, thus eliminating DNS leaks on the client end (like using TOR).

I inadvertantly deleted the Quickconnect information in Filezilla Client and am now unable to reconnect, I get "ECONNREFUSED" My Server is OMC@…. How can i reset my Password please?

If I have a bunch of low, large priority downloads in the transfer queue (using all the simultaneous connections) and then add a new item to the queue, setting the new item to highest priority I have to wait for one of the low priority items to complete before the HP item is processed (which could be hours).

It would be nice if there was a feature that allowed the more important item to be processed immediately rather than waiting for the trivial items to complete. Possible approaches might be:

1. A 're-evaluate queue now' button/menu option. If newer item takes precedence over a current item then that current item is suspended until the new higher items are processed.

2. Add a new ‘Force’ priority that just jumps to the top of the queue, either pausing a current download if required or possibly creating a new simultaneous connection (so temporarily increasing the number of simultaneous connections above the configured limit – probably best to limit to one forced item per queue in that case)

3. Allow a current item to be manually suspended

4. Just always re-evaluate the queue when a priority is changed.

Steps to reproduce:

• User A logs into an online server (test.com)
• User B logs into an online server (test.com)
• On the Server there's a folder "test"
• User A and User B see this folder on root level
• User A and User B step into the "test" folder
• User B leaves the "test" folder back to root
• User A creates a subfolder "test/newFolder"
• User B downloads the "test" folder

Expected result:

• User B gets the "test" folder and its subfolder "newFolder"

Real result (falsy behavior)

• User B only gets the "test" folder without its subfolder "newFolder"

Additionally:

• If the "test" folder is downloaded once and afterwards deleted from the local drive and downloaded again, the "test" folder doesn't show up automatically. Only after reloading.

Additionally:

• If the "test" folder is downloaded once and afterwards deleted from the local drive and downloaded again, Filezilla doesn't seem do step into the online folder(s). Instead it feels like Filezilla is placing (not downloading) a "cached" version of the "test" folder. This could explain why everything is messed up: A cache!

I am not sure why it does not download empty folders.

If you set up filters to filter out all the files in a folder, it will not download the empty folder. That empty folder name is what I am looking for, which is why I would like to have it downloaded, but do not want to waste bandwidth downloading the contents of the folder.

When I say folder, I mean directory.

This would be a great help to me and will donate if fixed (or added I guess), thank you.

I use FileZilla App every day with macOS Ventura 13.5. I got the notification about the latest release of FileZilla 3.66.0, so I just updated the app to the new one on Nov. 2 today.

But when I opened my server from Site Manager, I noticed that the local directory window doesn't show the directory I set as default. And it turned out that the names of folders and files including Japanese letters are now all garbled and completely unreadable (Image attached). I think the difference between path names is probably the reason why I cannot reach the local directory I bookmarked.

Since most folder/file names are garbled, I cannot even tell which one is the right path I need, so this bug is CRITICAL for me. I regret updating my FileZilla. (Is there any way to install the previous version of FileZilla for a workaround?)

I appreciate it if you could work on this problem with priority. This is affecting a lot of Japanese users I think.

If FileZilla in a root folder which name is begin with dollar sign like "C:\$Programs\FileZilla", FileZilla cannot change the UI language, and if FileZilla in folder like "C:\Programs\$FileZilla" than FileZilla cannot run.

Everytime a connection is started the folder compare option must be set again. It would be very good to include a preset for this in the options.

Hello Guys! Briefly, having a folder already selected (server side), without the interrogation, when clicking it does not reload and gives the following error:

Erro: FATAL ERROR: Network error: Software caused connection abort Erro: Falha na obtenção da lista de pastas (translated:Failed to get folder list)

It is necessary to click on another folder and return to the desired folder for it to reload normally. It seems like a silly thing, but it's kind of boring to have to do this process.

To repeat:

1. Ensure the local directory tree is visible
2. Enter a UNC path into the "local site" text box
3. Press Tab

This gives focus to the local directory control, which changes the local site back to the selected item in the tree clearing the UNC path. This is annoying for both keyboard navigation and for changing to a subfolder of the UNC path.

Ideally, the local directory tree should include the "Network" folder that appears in explorer and the UNC path you entered should appear within it so you can use this control to navigate to subfolders.

If this isn't feasible, merely giving this control focus without changing the selected item shouldn't change the "local site" folder.

The item selected last in file or directory tree browser (both local and remote) is not scrolled to view, when the file or directory tree browser is navigated into via tabbing despite the item gaining focus due to the navigation. Inconsistent with behaviour when navigating in the browser; moving in directory structure or file browser with arrow keys keeps the selected item in view.

When server is full FileFlash automatically retries to connect to FTP server. Sometimes it can take quite a while before the connection is established and users usually do other things when waiting. During this time the FileZilla window is begind other windows. So when FileZilla connects to server it would be nice if its taksbar button flasshed so that users can see that something happened in the FZ window.

When I open a local file for editing, the only way I know it worked is when I upload the file, and test it.

During the upload process, there is an option to "Finish Editing" (which basically means, "clear the edit-in-progress flag"). But at that point, I have no idea whether or not I'm done editing -- so I never clear it.

What I'd like is an option to clear that flag AFTER uploading the file, without uploading it again. It would also be nice if such files were flagged, to identify files that have already been flagged.

The up directory button for the remote server is within the directory tree structure. When you have a directory with a large amount of files that you sort in different ways you often have to keep scrolling up and down to find the "Up 1 Directory" button.

It would be nicer if it was a permanent button just to the left of the "Remote Site" Label so that you could change directories without having to scroll

Translation locale names should not use country part without reason. Its use makes impossible to use translation in other countries that use the same language.

Country part should be used only in these conditions:

• You already have "canonical" translation (e. g. de_DE, fr_FR) done and you want to translate to a country specific dialect.
• You need to use country specific strings.
• You translate to locales that have exception from this rule: pt_BR, bn_IN, zh_TW, zh_CN (and other zh_*).

Double clicking on the 'index' of 'index.php' should only select the text 'index'. This is fairly standard across most operating systems.

This would help with workflow and efficiency. Normally, people want to change filename but not change the file suffix.

r10380 (user impersonation), breaks compatibility with OpenBSD. OpenBSD does not support shadow(3) and crypt(3) causing building to fail.

As a workaround introduce FZ_OPENBSD, which is similar in behavior as FZ_MAC.

Failed to retrieve directory listing

I just installed and launched from macOS App Store. Version is 3.49.2. On first launch, I was prompted to subscribe (which I did) then to select allowed directories (which I did). Then, the application window opened and is too high on the screen for me to access the titlebar and toolbar buttons. See screenshot attached.

Note I launched this on a monitor that has lower resolution (which may be the catalyst). However, I have tried dragging to a new window using macOS Expose (since I can't drag the window by its titlebar which is inaccessible). The window moves to the new monitor but is still too high on the screen to be usable.

I suggest finding some better way to write these strings: "R&eboot system once" "S&hutdown system once" "S&uspend system once"

Because i think its unclear what is happening.

To me the first string sounds like restarter system 1 time, but why would you want to restart 2 times or 3 times.

I don't think its clear enough that the menu item will be cleared afterwards.

Maybe like this: "R&eboot system (once)" "S&hutdown system (once)" "S&uspend system (once)"

Or: "R&eboot system (only once)" "S&hutdown system (only once)" "S&uspend system (only once)"

I can't find one i really like but mabye someone else can? Maybe someone know of other software that use this that we can check out.

In the Filter rules / conditions section user can filter out what he likes.

Would it be possible to also have the whitelisting approach here? I mean first I would exclude everything and then I would add files / folders individually, thus letting them be processed.

I did not elaborate it well yet but it could be the opposite of the current method.

I think that functionality of filters button should be changed around. I have mouse buttons and respective button actions in mind.

FZ Filters button - should be ================= LMB: Turns filters on and off RMB: Displays additional and feature complete options for filters

Take Compare Button as an example, that one is implemented correctly.

Proximity of these two buttons along with their similar function but inconsistent behaviour makes them ergonomical nightmare as user needs to try what will actually happen when he l/r clicks one of buttons.

I use these buttons almost constantly and still don't intuitively remember what will happen if I left click the filter button.

Add the ability to filter files by their modification date. Ex: only show local files that have been modified within the last two hours.

When I minimize the filezilla client the task icon disappears. I see the process when I open task manager. I can not alt-tab to find the process. I am running on windows 7 (64bit) sp 1. Below is information from my about page.

Hi. I recently updated my Mac to Catalina (version 10.15) and now I get an error message when I try to run Filezilla (see attached). Thanks.

Since the last update of Filezilla, 1 November, the program won't connect to my server.

In Windows, you use the Start Menu only to start programs or access things not available in programs.

See ​http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/The-Start-menu-overview for reinforcement, but it's been this way since at least 1995 (Windows 95). ​http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa511447.aspx#files goes further and specifies exactly what should not be in the Start Menu. Filezilla is violating this paradigm by including the uninstaller as a start menu item. It's unnecessary because Windows users use the Control Panel to remove programs.

If you eliminate the uninstaller, you don't even need a FileZilla FTP Client folder folder in the Start Menu, eliminating a "dry click" and exposing FileZilla immediately when a user clicks on All Programs (in Windows 7).

This would make FileZilla be like other popular Windows programs, like Adobe Reader, GIMP, Pidgin, KeePass, Mozilla Firefox, Wireshark, and more.

Filezilla client latest (3.62.2)

Both mac and windows, so probably not an OS-related issue.

Repro...

Have an SFTP connection using pubkey auth.

Change the public key on the server (authorized_keys) and change the key file on the filezilla client for the connection to use the new private key.

Connecting and browsing with the new key works fine but when you go to upload files, you get a key error as filezilla starts using the old key if it still exists (resulting in "Server refused our key" error) or if the old key no longer exists on disk: "Skipping non-existing key file" as filezilla attempts to use the old key.

A possibly related issue (seen by 2 users on Windows10Pro, Filezilla 3.62.2) is that after deleting the connection from Filezilla's connection manager and restarting Filezilla, the deleted connection reappears in connection manager and has to be re-deleted.

Work around

To work around this you need to delete the connection in the connection manager and re-create from scratch using the new key. If the connection keeps re-appearing you may have to try multiple times (some users reported to me it took 3 tries to get the old connection to delete and the new one to work restarting filezilla between each).

transferring file to aruba. one at a time the thread hangs at the end of file and remain still. so filezilla remains locked and the transfer does not go ahead. in the log, at the end of collection i give an F5 to refresh dir. This malfunction happens for several months but only now I decided to report it after several new versions of filezilla.

Upon starting Filezilla client, I cannot see on the screen that it is doing anything while checking for updates. The time needed for this activity, especially on first use after start-up, suggests there should be at least an indication (hourglass or the like) that the client is at work indeed.

we are running filezilla server 1.30 ( previously 1.20 which also had the same issue)

the ftp server part runs fine but the admin interface does not work ( log throws a tls error )

we have a production server and a testing server. on the testing server it runs fine

the test server has more strict setup of enabled tls version and cipher suites ( see attachment)

i suspect it might be somewhere in the code where it chooses the encryption method for the local connection with the admin interface.

I am running filezilla on ubuntu 19.04 lts I followed instructions on installing filezilla on 19.04 . It opens ok and I can connect to ftp server ok. But when I try to drag and drop a file in either direction filezilla closes down and i have to reopen connection. Why can't I xfer files back and forth??

When uploading a large number of files (over 46) at one time, filezilla has started to pause for over 30 seconds at every 44 to 46 file. This has not happened before. This started happening when I had my upload speed increased with Comcast.

I was asked to provide a log file for a bug, so I enabled the log in the options. However, a log file was not created. So I needed to restart FileZilla. After restart, a log file was created. FileZilla did not ask me to restart.

This bug report is (in some way) based on tickets submitted before, e.g.: #1345, #2929, #3742, #3746

If I get these and especialy the responses to them right, the additional code to limit a function which would otherwise just work as expected (i.e. offline editing with a configurable editor) is there, because the "edit" function is only implemented for "automatic transfer". But this in turn isn't automatic (and thus broken to quite some users) as has been reported and confirmed several times, e.g.: #1406, #2765, #2899, #2914, #2992

Furthermore altering "open" (and "double click on files") to make it an alternative to "edit" is refused because Filezilla shall not be a file management tool.

On top of that the non-automatic "automatic upload" meanwhile can be disabled as it's behaviour did irritate several users who instead decided not to make use of it at all. Thus we now have an "edit" function for something which doesn't (fully) work in practice and an "open" function which is useless to most of us.

But if Filezille must not be a file management tool then why is Filezilla insisting on displaying a listing of local files at all? It's even not possible to turn that off.

Either proper file management should be implemented/allowed, or the fractional (or should I say bugged?) file lisitng thingy should be removed completely. Because in the current form it is confusing at best an leads to data corruption or even data loss at worst. Additionally this step would release space on the screen (which could be used by a proper file management tool instead).

Or in short: Filezilla should concentrate on it's job: FTP. It should leave the task of file management to the programs which are good at this "e.g. Explorer, Konqueror, Nautilus or Finder" (codesquid in response to Ticket #2929).

First encountered this problem in 3.65.0 and went back to 3.63.2.1 but the issue has just happened again. FileZilla freezes when multiple connection tabs are open and you try to delete a tab. The problem is in reproducing the issue since it only seems to occur after FileZilla has been open for sometime. Shutting FileZilla down and re-initialising doesn't seem to solve the problem but an OS reboot does. I thought it might be happening due to the X on the tab to delete being hidden (window too narrow to display all tabs) and having to shift the tab bar to see the X, since that was the only time it seemed to happen, but I have disproved that at least immediately after starting FileZilla.

We have a DFS namespace mapped to the drive letter N:, which contains a large number of network shares (~40). If I expand N:\ in the Filezilla local site section, it causes Filezilla to freeze for about 30 seconds the first time this is done after launching and whenever it is refreshed.

If I select N:\ without expanding it, I can refresh without issue.

Transfer Settings > Limit number of simultaneous uploads.

If I set this to two, and begin the upload, only one upload begins.

If I then begin an additional upload to a different server, the second upload for the first server begins, and the second server is queued.

The second server being queued is fine and correct, but the first server should begin with the two uploads as I have set, and not just the one.

Hope that made some sense.

Example repro steps:

1) Upload a c# file (foo.cs) to a remote server. 2) On the local machine ensure that Visual Studio is associated with the '.cs' extension (right-click on file, choose 'Open-with->Choose-default program->Visual Studio' 3) Restart Visual studio and close the foo.cs editing tab. 4) Use filezilla to view/edit the remote copy of foo.cs (right-click and select 'view/edit').

Each time you do this, an additional Visual Studio process is opened. (Oddly, foo.cs appears to be opened in both the existing process and the new process.)

By contrast, if you double-click on the local copy of foo.cs from windows explorer, it opens in the existing Visual Studio process,as expected.

Although the recipe above uses Visual Studio, you can see the same behaviour for any application or file-type.

Hello. Yesterday I tried to use FileZilla but it would not connect or give any indication it was responsive.

On the right hand side, there is a message saying it is not connected to a server, but, if I click the rapid connection button, it says I am already connected, and do I want to break the connection.

It was working fine the last time I used it.

I have tried reinstalling but it makes no difference. It just opens up exactly the same.

I purchased the pro version. Thinking that the bug of closing alone was due to being the free version.

The bug happens as follows. I open fillezilla, do some transfers, when I open another application and go back to filezilla it simply closes everything.

This is a resurrection of client bug #790 (which was closed due to inactivity). I was not the person who filed that originally. I am the senior FTP support specialist with Novell Worldwide Support. I will base this report description on the older one, but will update it:

Novell's FTP server software allows one to access the files on ANY Novell file server in their directory tree, using this syntax: cwd server/volume/dir/subdir

And some Novell FTP servers will even let someone's home directory be in that format.

This feature is sometimes referred to at Novell as a "FTP Gateway" where one FTP server can give users access to an entire Directory Tree of servers. We also call it our "remote server" feature.

Novell FTP server is (to my knowledge) the only FTP server in the world to provide this feature. So admittedly, this effects only a subset of your user base. But when FileZilla (3.7.3) sees such a syntax (through pwd output), or when you enter a path into Filezilla's "remote site" field, such as "server1/volume1/path/" Filezilla often strips off the first '/' character. This seems to especially be a problem when using the QuickConnect button to start a session, rather than Site Manager. But I've had customers complain of it even when using Site Manager.

Because of this, anytime Filezille wants to reference the absolute path in a command, it references "/server1/..." instead of "server1/...". This difference causes the Novell FTP server to look for a local path (local to the FTP server) called "/server1/..." rather than access the separate host machine "server1". And thereby, it returns a '550 invalid path' error, or similar.

I would be happy to work closely with you to pursue this issue. Many of our common customer would benefit from having Filezilla know that (at least with Novell servers) it should preserve double-slash syntax rather than strip it off. Also, please note that not every Novell FTP server would be using this syntax. So it wouldn't be as simple as saying, "build every absolute path for Novell beginning with a double slash." Instead, it will be a matter of looking at what syntax is given (via PWD or via user input) and if it begins with "" preserve that rather than strip it to "/".

I will quote the following from the older bug as well, though I have not verified all of this:

Another FTP client, NCFtp (www.ncftp.com) had the same issue a few versions back, but has since been fixed. WS_FTP on Windows, Fetch and Transmit on Mac OSX, and the command line FTP program on any Mac/Linux/Windows system all work correctly with this functionality and do not have this issue.

That is not to say that all those clients fully understand and automatically correctly use the "" syntax. But in many cases, clients don't insist on referencing the absolute path as much as Filezilla does, so they will often "just work" where Filezilla doesn't.

I used to connect to my server with Filezilla successfully until the latest update version 3.42.1. When I try to connect it first displays connected, waiting for the welcome screen, then the server disconnect. The attached files show the different stages of the tentative connection. I still can connect to my server either with browsers from my same computer or with my iPhone.

When renaming a remote file, if you click outside the renaming box instead of press enter key, fileZilla blocks and have to reconnect again

Filezilla ask me password for coping file, when master-password is active.

1. Run Filezilla
2. Input master-password
3. Login into server (without asking password - it's ok)
4. But when I try to copy file from client to server, Filezilla ask me password for my server username (not master-password, but for server username).
5. When changing server directory and try to copy files again, Filezilla ask me password for my server username again!

Please fix it to make master-password for all operations - login into server and for coping files.

Using Filezilla Client 3.3.0.1

When I upload new files, Filezilla keeps giving me messages that the file already exists, but the pre-existing file is only a part of the original. I keep on having to click on "resume" to continue uploading.

I've used filezilla for over a year on this PC. Never had a problem before.

I am using a customized SFTP Server, which works with SFTP version 3. The connection process is working good, also the init process: Filezilla client send SSH_FXP_INIT with version 3 to my_sftp_server( runs on OpenSUSE 42.3 ), and my_sftp_server respond with version 3.

But when listing in root directory( '/' ) is made the directories from root directory are seen as regular files( the folders are 'Hold' and 'Print' ).

If i write on Remote Site panel explicitly the folder name then then i can access the folder.

I am trying to log into my server of WWW.Torchlakeca.com but when it attempts the login it is using a different server name and I don't know where it got that name. It is using www.torchlskeca.com Somehow the A was replaced with an S???

As of February 27, 2023, Filezilla comes up with a ERROR 530 on my password entry...same password and account used for several years and several thousand transfers....check the web server, logged in perfectly, so Filezilla log in is not working

hello -I am trying to upload files but im getting disconnect from server and files are not uploading. This is my first time reporting a system error and we just started using this software.

This seems to be happening at random when I close the client. Sometimes I will get a report like this, and other times it will exit with no issues. In both instances, I do not get a crash dialog, the program appears to exit just fine, but these events will show up in Event Viewer and Reliability report under Windows 10 and 11.

OS is Windows 11 64Bit. Platform is 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake, 12600K 32GB DDR4 Memory

I have attached crash dumps, so hopefully they reveal something.

Steps to reproduce the issue: Open Filezilla Client. Close Filezilla Client. You don't have to transfer or connect for the crash on exit to happen. It is intermittant.

Since I uploaded the new version - 3.56.1 - uploading files works normally but at the end of the upload, the screen greys out and a window appears saying Filezilla has crashed and Windows will shut it down. This happens every time I upload files.

I have this situation:

Server: unbuntu 12.04 LTS, vsFTPd 2.3.5. (should support files >2GB since a long time) Client: windows XP, filezilla 3.5.3 (should support files >2GB) Settings: plain FTP with usr/pwd, server and client on the same LAN.

What happens: I can't resume files from server if they are >2GB. I tried another client (WinSCP) and this doesn't happen. I can transfer the file if I don't interrupt it, the issue is just on resume.

I removed usr name and file name, all the rest is left untouched. Access to the file is possible, I resumed a couple of times while it was still <2GB, an it worked perfectly. I couldn't find any options for this case, and usually I just made a queue and process it in a go, so I never run in this. I think it's a bug, may be not, just signaling it.

Using the Administration Interface (v1.6.1) when multiple transfers are happening and I resize the main window or just the transfer window the display of the current transfers disappears.

Hello I am using coz Server with sftp on MVS. I try to open an MVS DATAset with VTAM.TEST or with 'VTAM.TEST.' but I don't get an answer. Is filezilla able to work with MVS-Datasets under sftp Protokoll?
