#10866 "All files transferred succesfully" notice repeated a ridiculous number of times moreinfo Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • upload a folder or a few folders containing a few hundred files
  • Give focus to some other application other than FileZilla

Expected result:

  • When the upload is complete, you get a notification telling you that all the files have been succesfully transferred (or not). On Ubuntu it's a rectangle on the top-right of the screen just below the notification area, which pops up and disappears after a few seconds.

Observed result: This happens systematically with some given folders but not others, but I haven't found the pattern. The folders that reproduce the issue do so systematically, the ones that don't never do. Ths issue is:

  • when the transfer is finished, the notification pops up dozens of times, consecutively. You can see the popup vanish and reappear immediately every few seconds. In total, it can stay several minutes.

I guess that the popup is showed a number of times equal to the number of files transferred, or more probably, the number of files that satisfy certain conditions.

Please don't underestimate and the severity of this bug and lower the priority: besides being extremely annoying, if you do a few transfers of several files each, the notifications will pile up indefinitely, and if eventually you have some transfer error, it may take literally HOURS until you finally see the notification with the error.

Actually, the whole way transfer errors are managed is poorly designed, but that's another story and it will take me a while to file a complete report (or a bunch of reports) about that.

This one issue is pretty specific though.

#7291 "Already connected" dialog does not give checkbox option to "always do this" new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The "Already connected" dialog asks if the user wants to abort the previous connection or open the new connection in a tab. It does not give a checkbox option to automatically apply that choice in future instances, which makes the dialog a needless prompt for users who would always make the same choice.

#8424 "Always upload this file" option when editing/updating new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

Thanks for FileZilla client - great software; I just made a donation.

When editing a file, my workflow is like this: 1) Edit file 2) Switch to FileZilla to upload 3) Switch to browser to test impact 4) Switch back to editor

If FileZilla's "Do you want to upload this file?" box had a "Always upload this file" checkbox that could last for the session's duration, then that would be great and save some time.

Thank you for considering the idea.

#12131 "Assertion failed" when entering Windows-style path name into remote path field new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect to a Linux-based server
  2. Type a Windows-style path name like "D:\temp" (no quotes) into the *remote* site directory and press <ENTER>.
  3. This causes FileZilla to display a modal dialog with the following message:

Assertion failed!

Program C:\Program Files (x86)\FileZilla FTP Client\filezilla.exe File: ../../../../packages/FileZilla3/src/engine/local_path.cpp, Line 359

Expression: segment.find(L "\ \" )== std::wstring::npos

[I had to munge the above string, otherwise it broke this bug tracking input field; the part in parens should be the following chars: el,quote, backslash, backslash, quote. See attached screenshot.]

#7868 "Cancel" must be "cancel the whole upload process/disable transfer queue" new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I really like FileZilla, but today I started to upload some files and I understand that the remote directory is wrong. When overwrite confirmation dialog appears I click "Cancel". But the upload process doesn't stop. And I didn't know how to stop it actually.

We have the "Skip" option in this dialog, so please make "Cancel" button to cancel the upload process.

#4508 "Check For Updates" does not work when there is a HTTP proxy new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If you use the online update function, it should use the global proxy settings. atm there is no way using it when sitting behind a proxy. Perhaps there sould be an option [in the update dialoge or in the global settings] to setup the behavior.

#4920 "File has changed" Dialog after resume from suspend for all ever opened files. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

First of all: My FileZilla setup ist german. My english is not the best.

After i woke my system from suspend to disk, the FileZilla Client starts to pop up the "File has changed" message for all ever opened files. I had to open the task manager and terminate the FileZilla task to stop that behaviour. Not any of the files has changed realy and i am not sure what the files would look like if i had choosen "upload new file to server".

#10859 "Hours" > "hour(s)," or use plural new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Should "Hours" and "Minutes" be with small letters, "hours" and "minutes"?

I suggest changing the string so i will be correct will all numbers:

    msgid "hour(s),"
    msgstr ""

    msgid "minute(s)"
    msgstr ""

Or use the plural option available in PO file:

    msgid "hour,"
    msgid_plural "hours,"
    msgstr[0] ""
    msgstr[1] ""

    msgid "minute"
    msgid_plural "minutes"
    msgstr[0] ""
    msgstr[1] ""

And maybe make the strings appear right after each other in the file.

#12115 "It's the Server's Fault" new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Am getting the standard message "Error: A certificate in the chain was signed using an insecure algorithm Error: Received certificate chain could not be verified. Verification status is 2." from a site that, up until 24 Feb 2020, was passing files. How do I fix this? I need to update the website I'm working on, and the ISP claims there's nothing wrong from their end. Thank you for your assistance.

#12163 "Local site" gives "(some path) does not exist or cannot be accessed." error for some folders on mounted CIFS shares reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

This issue happens intermittently, this happens:

  • only for some folders on mounted CIFS shares
  • only sometimes: same folders can be accessed one moment but become unreachable a minute later
  • only in "Local site" view: at the same time client successfully continues downloads in the same folder and can Import/Export configurations from/to the same folders

I haven't been able to find reflection of error in any of the logs: /var/log/messages, kern.log, syslog, built-in Filezilla Logging from the Settings does not have any traces.

#11246 "Locate file in Finder" or "Locate file in Explorer" new Feature request high FileZilla Client
Description

Hi FileZilla Team,

Had searched the feature request tickets and didn't find any results...

Just wanted to ask if there could be an option (in the local file list) that when you right-click on a file or folder, there's an option for "Locate file in Finder" (MAC) or "Locate file in Explorer" (Windows)? This feature would serve very handy when wanting to reorganize the local folder or open an image in Photoshop, or extract a zipped folder to verify the contents, etc.

Thanks in advance if this can be implemented soon!

Best Regards, Jaime

#8966 "Move" displays "+" as mouse pointer indication new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

This is very similar to bug 4667: http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/4667 but I think it is very important to bring this up again, as the excuse that the code relies on a clearly inadequate API is, IMHO, not acceptable for this actually DANGEROUS behaviour! I copied a file from one directory to another, decided I didn't want it there, and subsequently deleted it - only to discover that the file was NOT copied but instead moved, despite visual indications to the contrary, thus removing the only instance of that file entirely!

In fact, I'm not even convinced by the argument that the Windows drag-and-drop cursor cannot not display a plus sign - it regularly doesn't when I am MOVING files in Windows Explorer. Or if you are correct in that it doesn't, then a different icon system should be used. You mention that FTP can't do copy - that's fine if it can't, but you should give users any sort of visual indication that this is the case!

And before anyone says it, the fact that I should have had a backup is not applicable in this case - the copy was an effort to MAKE a backup! It your tool informs you, quite clearly, that you have TWO copies of a file, when it is hiding the fact that you only have one, then the tool is at fault and needs correcting!

#12432 "No supported authentication methods available" when connecting to RHEL 8 (fips mode enabled) new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'm attempting to connect to a new RHEL8 server using the latest build of FileZilla (3.53.1). My client machine is running the latest version of Linux Mint (20.1)

FileZilla reports:

Status:	Connecting to rhel8.server.host.name...
Response:	fzSftp started, protocol_version=10
Command:	open "acoder2020@rhel8.server.host.name" 22
Status:	Using username "acoder2020".
Error:	FATAL ERROR: No supported authentication methods available
(server sent: publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)
Error:	Could not connect to server

The RHEL server was installed with FIPS mode for enhanced security. So some authentication methods are removed to tighten the server down.

Here is the server log on the corresponding SFTP login attempt through FileZilla:

/var/log/secure

Apr 21 16:30:14 rhel8 sshd[2442322]: userauth_pubkey:
key type ssh-rsa not in PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes [preauth]
Apr 21 16:30:14 rhel8 sshd[2442322]: Connection closed by authenticating user
acoder2020 1.1.1.1 port 33378 [preauth]

And the SSH config:

/etc/crypto-policies/back-ends/opensshserver.config

PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes=ecdsa-sha2-nistp256,ecdsa-sha2-nistp256-cert-v01@openssh.com,
ecdsa-sha2-nistp384,ecdsa-sha2-nistp384-cert-v01@openssh.com,ecdsa-sha2-nistp521,
ecdsa-sha2-nistp521-cert-v01@openssh.com,rsa-sha2-256,rsa-sha2-256-cert-v01@openssh.com,
rsa-sha2-512,rsa-sha2-512-cert-v01@openssh.com

Not that it matters much, but I'm able to ssh and sftp to the same machine from a terminal.

#12944 "Not connected to any server" error new Bug report normal Unknown

#12027 "Paste" keyboard shortcut not working new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

#12996 "Preallocate space before downloading" doesn't work with SFTP new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I downloaded FileZilla as I wanted a Windows SFTP client which can preallocate space for downloaded files to avoid fragmentation, as the following two pages suggest it can:

https://filezillapro.com/docs/v3/advanced/pre-allocate-disk-space-before-download/ https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/8094

After installing, I went into Settings and turned on "Preallocate space before downloading". But no matter what I try (different files, different ways of initiating the download, different destination drives), all files are split into many small pieces filling the tiny gaps in the drive, even though there is a very large contiguous block of space free (at least 600 GB).

I've tried to have a look through (the web version of) the SVN repository to see if I could find the relevant code, and it looks like there is code to handle the preallocation in trunk/src/engine/ftp/filetransfer.cpp but not in trunk/src/engine/sftp/filetransfer.cpp, which I'm guessing is the equivalent file for SFTP.

Can this be functionality please be added for SFTP (and other transports)?

As there's no mention of it only working for FTP in either of the pages linked above (I can't find any others mentioning the feature), and as the functionality is entirely local to the client device so I wouldn't have thought it would need different implementations for each transport, I'm guessing it's more of an oversight that it's been left out of the others so I've selected that this as a bug rather than a feature request.

Thanks

#9140 "Remote tree" bug new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

After a 'Failed to retrieve directory listing' error, the 'failed' directory is highlighted in the remote tree as if the client navigated to it successfully and clicking it to try again has no effect.

It would be helpful if the highlight goes back to the current directory after this error.

#3973 "Resume if smaller, warn if larger, skip if same size" new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When catching up, restaring a big tree of files. the most obvious action for "default file exists action" in the settings dialog would be, "Resume if smaller, warn if larger, skip if same size". That option doesn't exist, and it really should. When set to "Resume", it Resumes ALL files that already exist, even though 99 of them are complete and the same size. Filezilla client says REST (restart) and then RETR (retrieve) looking for the 350,000,000th byte of a file of 350,000,000 bytes long. The FTP server sends back "0 bytes" (the rest of the file). Success. Next file. Oh, it exists too... same. You could die of old age before it gets back to work on transfering a 4GB tree of 50,000 small files. So you are forced to choose "Skip" and then manually figure out which 100 files came up short due to all those internet interuptions.

Using latest Filezilla Client 3.1.5 and latest Serv-U Server 7.2. Advocate for XCRC and XMD5 commands too.

#5229 "Selected File Already Being Edited" Dialog - "Always Perform Action" option new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Sometimes I encounter the "Selected File Already Being Edited" dialog box. If I was trying to open multiple files that were in this state, after clicking "OK" for whatever action I chose, the file opens and I'm taken out of FileZilla. Then I have to return to FileZilla to click "OK" for the next file, and the next file, and on down the line until I have all the files open.

What would save a lot of time is two checkbox options: "Always Perform this Action" (working like the upload and replace, where it only stays set until FileZilla is closed), and "Perform Action for Group" (assuming multiple files are trying to be opened and receiving this error)

#2936 "Set as Initial Directory" new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I would like to see shortcut to set the current directory (on the home or the remote) as the initial directory for that connection, after you have already connected.

Currently, you have to go back to the site settings find the appropriate text field, and type in the path manually.

I see there are a lot of requests for context menu items, so maybe this could be a button. Perhaps on the path bar?

Thanks. And thanks for such great software. I dumped my pirated SFTP proggie because you provided such a viable and legal alternative, that I can even run from a flash drive.

#11860 "Show in Explorer" - right-click menu option new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

#11527 "Size thousands separator" setting not working new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

#852 "Sort folders first in Sitemanager" reopened Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

The option "Interface Settings > Miscellaneous > Sort folders first in Sitemanager" does not work with sub-folders. I have attached an example FileZilla.xml settings file to illustrate this.

To replicate:

1/. Set setting "Interface Settings > Miscellaneous > Sort folders first in Sitemanager" to true. 2/. Open Site Manager. 3/. Add a folder to the root called "1". 4/. Add a folder to folder "1" called "2". 5/. Create 2 new sites in folder "1" called "1" and "3". 6/. Save and close site manager. 7/. Re-open site manager and site "1" will appear above folder "2".

#11764 "Successful" transfer files not appearing on remote site new Bug report critical FileZilla Client

#2829 "Target file already exists"-dialogue new Feature request normal FileZilla Client

#4571 "Transfer as" and "queue as" function new Feature request high FileZilla Client
Description

it would be great if filezilla would have the two file-transfer-options "transfer as" and "queue as" like flashFXP. that´s the only reason i have to use flashFXP in some cases. this would allow user to rename files before downloading

#8418 "Transfer Queue Process" toggle button doesn't retain visual state on theme change new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Subject pretty much says it all. I have an active file transfer, and then I go to Edit -> Settings and pick a new Theme, and then hit OK.

I am returned to the main window, but the "Process Queue" toggle button has lost its state and appears in the "off" position (not-pressed).

I only had a single file in the queue and it was already in progress, so I'm not sure if this was simply cosmetic (the rest of the queue would've completed) or if the Process Queue setting actually got frobbed.

Client details below.

#4235 "Treat files without extension as ASCII file" should be unchecked by default reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

With this option checked by default,

  • Copying C:\NTLDR fails because it's copied as ASCII
  • Copying /bin/ls fails
  • Backing up a CMS that encrypts the filenames of attached files (=>with no extension) fails

ASCII convertion is file modification. Files without extension are of unknown type. Modifying files of unknown type is really something that shouldn't be default behavior.

I'm reporting this bug after having ~2000 corrupted files because of it. And I discovered that the files were corrupted after a week, so even my backup is corrupted. ASCII convertion for binary files corrupts them irreversibly, please don't do it by default.

#11540 "Unknown Certificate" Dialog Too Big When Using Increased Font Size (Accessibility) new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When connecting with a server with e.g. a homebrewn or invalid certificate, the info dialogue displayed is too big even on a 1080p screen if increased font size is selected. The "OK" and "Cancel" buttons cannot be read.

This could be solved by embedding the group boxes into a scrollable widget.

For replication:

  • Linux (but most likely OS independent)
  • UI: GNOME 3.22
  • Font Scaling Factor: 1.10 (use TweakUI -> Fonts)
  • Font Size: 13pt (use TweakUI -> Fonts)

These settings are not actually that big. I personally find the behaviour of the dialogue box quite annoying. I can imagine how annoying it must be for someone who has to use even bigger fonts. By the way: The same issue might occur in other large info boxes like the one in Menu Help->About.

Note

#9962 "Upload existing files if source is newer or size is different" does not consider deleted directory tree as a change new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Consider following directory structure (as an example):

Root level

  • Directory 1
    • Directory 1.1
  • Directory 2
    • Directory 2.1
      • File 2.1.A
      • File 2.1.B

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect to the server being locally at "Root level". Switch synchronized browsing on.
  2. Upload the directory structure to server.
  3. Browse to Directory 2.1
  4. Make modifications locally to Files 2.1.A and 2.1.B. Upload them to the server. At this point Filezilla asks what to do with the already existing files: select "replace if source is newer or size is different"
  5. Go up to "Root level"
  6. Login to the server via SSH and remove your remote Directory 2.
  7. Refresh the view in Filezilla. Directory 2 disappears.
  8. Upload the whole "Directory 2" again via Filezilla.
  9. Browse to Directory 2.1.

You will see that Files 2.1.A and 2.1.B are not uploaded.

Expected behavior would be that Files are uploaded. This seems to happen because Filezilla does not clear its file/directory information cache for the deleted directory tree (even it notices the change at step 6), thus thinking that Files are not changed -> no need to upload the files.

Directories are created properly, as well as files that were changed between directory removal and re-upload.

#5105 "Use the server's external IP address instead" option doesn't work reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

The "Use the server's external IP address instead" option doesn't work as expected. Even if the option is set, Filezilla client uses the address returned in the PASV command instead of the server's external IP address.

Note for the developper : The bug is located at line 3837 in source file ftpcontrolsocket.cpp (Filezilla client 3.3.1) Replace the test else if (m_pEngine->GetOptions()->GetOptionVal(OPTION_PASVREPLYFALLBACKMODE) == 2)

with

else if (m_pEngine->GetOptions()->GetOptionVal(OPTION_PASVREPLYFALLBACKMODE) != 1)

It looks like the option can't have the value "2" so the test returns false everytime.

#13023 "create new file" does not use the correct line break formatting. CRLF is used for new file on linux server new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'm logged into a linux server (CentOS 7). I right-click in a folder/directory and click "create new file". I name it "test.json". I open the file with notepad++ and the line breaks are CRLF. This causes the file to not work with the linux OS that it's hosted on. I have to manually change the line breaks with notepad++.

I also tried creating the test.json on my PC and then uploading it to the linux server and it does not convert the line breaks even though I read elsewhere that it does.

I switched between "default transfer type auto/binary" and "treat files without extension as ASCII" but neither one seemed to have an impact.

#2388 "open directory in Explorer" in menu popup reopened Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I'm trawling through my local file window in FileZilla client 2.2.18.

I often find myself wishing to open a file's target directory or even the selected directory in Explorer.

But there appears to be no way to do so.

Therefore I've got to find this directory or file via Explorer and trawl through the directories *again* which can take an age!

This inability of FileZilla to do this, just makes me and no doubt hundreds of others irated. :-)

But why not save thousands of users grief and add a wee icon or an extra Menu line to do a 'open Container' command on a file or directory right into Explorer please?

Can't be hard to do surely?

#11404 "overwrite file if size differs" rule will delete local copy while remote files showing in list but actually not existing new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Suppose such situation: I set the rule for "Default file exists action" as "overwrite file if size differs", and download files from remote site(for example, download pictures from my smartphone to my PC), then keep FileZilla running as it is. Then I delete some pictures in the phone, but in FileZilla's remote site zone, It still shows the full list as before. If I do the same downloading job again(source and target path just as same as before), while trying to download those files shown in list but actually deleted, FileZilla finds "size difference" between source and target(local file exists and remote file doesn't), and as per the rule, it will firstly remove local file and rebuild a new one with same name but size is 0-byte, then gives an transfer error message. Finally, I will lose my local file(s), although my original purpose is to double check if everything downloaded properly. Can FileZilla's action in above situation as following: if file in remote list doesn't exist, FileZilla will just give an error message firstly, but don't change anything in local? "Local exists and remote doesn't" surely is kind of "size difference" but I think that's just an extreme case and is not our original purpose for the rule.

#12865 (2) Errors: Unable to open permission denied; Failed to retrieve directory listing new Bug report critical FileZilla Client
Description

When I try to login, I get these two error messages. My files on the right side do not appear, so I cannot access them. This has been going on since Sept of 2022. As I recall, I was editing the website, and when I went to upload the changes, I think there was something odd in the lower left box. It didn't upload. I have another FileZilla account that loads just fine, and there are no problems with it. They are both Rootsweb sites. So it is something unique to this file, called "bachgenealogy." I suspect that something got corrupted when I was trying to upload some changes. If someone could please just wipe it all clean, on your server, I can start over. Thank you.

#2399 (Re)store permissions new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I think a great feature would be if FZ could read and store permissions of all the files it downloaded, so it would then have the ability to (optionally) restore those permissions when the files are uploaded back to the server.

This would solve a perpetual problem that I have -- whenever I use FZ to restore files, my website is broken until I manually figure out what the permissions should be.

#1520 (Repeated) action after queue completion reopened Tim Kosse Other normal FileZilla Client
Description

This patch lets users do various actions after queue completion. It is accessed by right-clicking on the "Queued files" frame and implements the following functionality from RFE# 1707774:

  • Close FileZilla
  • Run program/command
  • Disconnect from server
  • Shutdown system (win only)
  • Reboot system (win only)

This initial version is not properly tested on various systems, and should not be applied before more bug testing. It's posted here to get feedback on patch quality, and if I'm on the right track with this.

More information will be posted on the already mentioned RFE.

#2265 (Server) Wildcards in Permissions new Feature request high FileZilla Server
Description

It would be nice to be able to use wildcards, such as the * when settings file permissions.

This would be especially useful if for instance you wanted to provide each user a folder that has special permissions where the folder name was the same.

Ex. c:\ftp\users\*\upload and then give that permission to write files.

This allows a single entry that lets each user have a folder that any user can upload to.

The :u feature is quite useful, however this would allow on htat user access to upload in that folder.

#10723 *nix: Ctrl+i interpreted as (Ctrl+)Tab in file lists reopened Tim Kosse Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Opening dialog "Directory listing filters" by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I triggers an "assertion failure" eventually followed by a core dump if an object was selected in the "detailed listing" of either local or remote pane before.

Steps to reproduce (see screenshot_main-window.png; terms according to https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/FileZilla_Client_Tutorial_(en)#Navigating_and_window_layout): As long as objects are selected in the "directory tree" only like user directory "dummy" in the screenshot the said dialog behaves as expected. But as soon as an object in the "detailed listing" like folder "Musik" marked by a red asterisk in the screenshot gets selected by a single mouse click opening the dialog by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I doesn't work any longer. First a dialog "filezilla" (screenshot_dialogue-filezilla.png) comes up stating "An assertion failed". When "Continue" gets clicked FileZilla apparently continues to operate as usual. But clicking button "Stop" or hitting key "Esc" triggers a core dump.

It doesn't matter whether or not a connection is active. Opening the dialog from the menu, either by mouse or by keyboard mnemonics, isn't affected at all.

Up to date Arch Linux x86_64. FileZilla either 3.14.1 from the distribution's official repositories or SVN checkout 7250 compiled against libfilezilla 0.3.0 or SVN checkout 7250, same findings with all these variants.

Aside from the screenshots the "backtrace" provided by dialogue "filezilla" (backtrace_dialogue-filezilla.txt) as well as a backtrace generated by handing the saved core dump to gdb via sytemd's coredumpctl (backtrace_gdb.txt) are attached.

#12496 3.55.0 Win 32-bit - Server refused public-key signature new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Updated desktop 64-bit and laptop 32-bit to v3.55.0. Previously installed version on the laptop is uncertain (it doesn't get a lot of use these days).

Connection to a FreeBSD server worked for 64-bit but 32-bit returned "Server refused public-key signature despite accepting key!"

Both 32 and 64-bit are using the same ppk from PuttyGen. Putty to the same server is working fine on both platforms using this ppk file.

Re-imported the filezilla.xml from 64-bit to 32-bit platform with no change in results.

Rolled back to version 3.54.1 on the 32-bit platform and all works well.

#6501 A file with that name is already being transferred new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

I was downloading some php file using the veiw/edit function, before the file was fully downloaded I unchecked the "Process Queue" from the queued files list and then deleted it from the list using the delete button. I think this is a bug because the file should be transformed because I deleted it from the list.

#5521 A small improvement to UI new Feature request normal FileZilla Server

A small improvement to UI would be to clarify in the Speed limits (server/user settings) if dl and ul mean from client POV or admin POV. People get mixed up with that.

Could just be as simple as to add "upload/send to client" "dl/receive from client"

And also sorting by column in bottom part of server.

#3947 AS400 zero file size on send for small files new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Whenever I send small files (less than 6 kb, maybe more) to the AS400 server, they will have zero file size (ie. empty). There is no difference between binary and text files.

This happens on several AS400 hosts of the same type.

I access them using a Juniper VPN client. ("Windows Secure Application Manager")

See filezilla log file for details.

#7338 ASCII Mode Enhancement Request new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I've come across a situation that can't be all that uncommon, in which the FileZilla client's ASCII mode is insufficient.

Like many people I use Cygwin with Windows. When I create a text file using Cygwin Emacs, it's a UNIX file (EOL = LF). When I then try to use the Windows client to transmit the file in ASCII mode, it doesn't get converted to NetASCII's EOL = CRLF because the client only knows about Windows text files (EOL = CRLF).

There's an analogous situation under Linux, which can mount drives having different filesystems including Windows drives. When I try to send a Windows file using the Linux client I have the same difficulty (presumably, although I haven't tried this one).

What's needed is a way to specify which conversions to make when sending ASCII files: CR, LF, and/or CRLF (which is just passed through). I suppose the OS default EOL should always be converted.

And on receiving ASCII files, a way to control what to use for EOL: CR, LF, or CRLF.

(it doesn't matter if the new tab or reuse - only way I found to fix was exit and restart)

#12316 Ability to change download target (path/name) of queued files new Feature request low FileZilla Client

#10733 Ability to change tab title format new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Right now, a tab's title is set to the bookmark name plus the connection string with user@host. I name all of my bookmarks as "hostname: ip (user)" so that from the bookmark menu, I can see everything relevant. Unfortunately, most of that information is duplicated in the tab's title, making the tabs very wide.

Please consider allowing the end user to choose the format in which a tab's title is displayed.

#7894 Ability to dowload list of URLs new Feature request normal FileZilla Client

Please implement the ability to download list of files.

Example list:

ftp://user1:password1@ftpserver1/path/filename ftp://user2:password2@ftpserver2/path/filename ... ftp://userN:passwordN@ftpserverN/path/filename

List of URLs can be either loaded from text file or entered into text box.

Real case: I'm a telecom engineer and very often I have to download list of firmware that contains several files. All of them located at the same server but username and password are different and changed once in several hours. It's very time consuming to enter it manually every time for every single file.

Don't know about other platforms, but I notice that on Mac OS X (10.6.8), FileZilla (3.5.3) does not establish itself as the default handler for ftp and sftp links in web browsers. Other FTP clients do this, so it would be nice to have. Also, I notice that when I use the third-party RCDefaultApp preference pane to force an association of ftp and sftp links with FileZilla, FileZilla launches but does not process the url.

#4530 Accessibility events missing from the file lists in Gtk+ version new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch Accerciser (http://live.gnome.org/Accerciser) and Filezilla.
  1. In Accerciser (please see attached screenshot)
  1. In the list of accessibles on the left, highlight the filezilla application
  1. In the notebook on the right, choose Event Monitor.
  1. In the Event Monitor, select the Selected application radio button.
  1. Press the Select All button to check all event types.
  1. Give focus a file selection list and arrow up and down.

Expected results: Some* event would be issued each time the selection changes to inform assistive technologies of this fact.

Actual results: No events whatsoever seem to be issued when the selection changes. As a result, *nix users who are blind cannot use Filezilla.

I'm using Filezilla version 3.2.4 from http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Unofficial_Binaries. Note that I started building the latest from trunk using the instructions for OpenSolaris on your wiki, but I was not successful. However, in looking at the list of changes on your wiki, I came across: http://filezilla.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/filezilla?view=rev&revision=3159. Therefore on a Ubuntu Jaunty box, I got the latest "Successful" nightly snapshot (2009-05-21). I'm still not seeing any accessibility events when the selection changes. :-( If I'm missing something, please let me know. Otherwise, thanks in advance for looking at this issue!

#12652 Accessibility problems with administration interface GUI accepted Fabio Alemagna Other normal FileZilla Server
Description

Hi,

I encounter sevral problems to configure the server via the administration GUI, the keyboard navigation could be difficult and the screenreader NVDA version 2021.3.1 doesn't work with all components of the GUI.

The biggest problem is the datagrids, for example the configuration for users dirrectories access but all components of this type are problematic. When I use the "tab" key to focus this type of elements it's not possible to move in it with keys or to quit it with "tab" (I must use a shortcut). So it's not possible to select an item in the array and to configure it correctly, this is a big regression cause with the old GUI these problems wasn't present. Also, the datagrids are not announced correctly by the screenreader if I try to modify something in it, I must exit the settings and reload them to have a small access.

Also, when I add a new user or with the list elements of this type, the focus is blocked in the list with the possibility to up or down the selected item but I haven't access to the other options and, if I navigate without adding a nex element, I can't move up or down the selected element. I don't know if this happen also when I modify or copy the selected element but it's also a big problem.

An other problem, the dialog box creation for a SSL certificat has a strange behaviour with the tabindex so it's realy difficult to use it only with the keyboard.

I've also see something that I haven't understand, in the user configuration in the "General" tab, my screenreader indicate me a combobox just after the password field (always using "Tab" key to navigate) but I can't interract with it.

In conclusion the old interface was realy better for the accessibility and keyboard navigation, using a contextual menu in lists was far better than this new interface, etc..., this new interface is probably more modern than the old one but very less usable for visualy impaired people or for those who don't use the mouse. I hope this can be fixed, I realy apreciate Filezilla Server but for now the only solution that I have found is to install an old version (under 1.0.0), configure it and reinstall a new version but if I want to change something it could be realy difficult.

Best regards and keep up the good work.

#7945 Accessing Subfolders after remote file update new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi, Thanks for the good Job. FileZilla is certainly the REFERENCE. Small bug I noticed in vers 3.5.3. After updating local version of ROBOTS.TXT saved on local disk, (update editor called from FileZilla and saved locally), FileZilla will display message explaining that (local File was updated, will FileZilla delete remote one and upload the new one? I confirm YES, FileZilla reconnects automatically and uploaded new version = OK)

Problem= When I click on the plus sign + to expand the root folder and display the subfolders, it dosn't work. I had to disconnect, reconnect again, then it works.

Thanks for you support. Best Regards TED

#11185 Action after queue > Close Filezilla should not be performed for View/Edit actions new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

#7255 Action after queue completion - add custom action & select multiple actions new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I have the following suggestions for the "Action after queue completion" option:

  1. It would be great if there was an option to manage custom commands so that I could permanently add them to the list of possible actions. E.G. let's say I always need to run the command C:\RUN.BAT after every queue - If I could give this a name (RUNME) and add the command to the standard available list I wouldn't have to manually type it every time.
  1. Less important than the first option - but sometimes I need to run the run.bat command, and then shutdown the pc, or run another runme2.bat command - I know I can build a 3rd bat command which does all - but certain combinations are not possible. The ability to run more than one action would be great too. Some sort of multiple action manager would be needed thou' as sometimes I would need to wait for the first command to finish - so for example I would need to insert a 5 minute delay between issuing the run.bat command and the shutdown command!

Cheers!

#13017 Activate license pro new Bug report blocker FileZilla Client
Description

I am trying to install FileZilla Pro on a newer computer. I received a message that the license count has already been maxed out; however, I realized that I did not "deactivate" the license on one of my old computers. Are you able to assist in deactivating it from a former computer of mine? The computer has since been wiped and assigned to someone else; so there isn't an ability for me to access anything FileZilla related.

#7958 Active/Passive command line switch new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

For integration purposes, I would request that a command line parameter be added to specify if a connection is to be active or passive. In this design, if blank, the default settings for the app (Connection/FTP/Transfer Mode) would be used.

This connection string parameter would only be valid in the case that an FTP URL is passed as a parameter.

Thanks for your consideration!

#4874 Adaptive concurrent connections new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been using FileZilla to transfer files on a gigabit network and have made a few observations.

  • With concurrent transfers = 1, transferring large files (8GB+) I can saturate a gigabit link
  • With concurrent transfers > 1, transferring large files due to disk IO on the remote FTP server and local box I get varying transfer rates in the 550-700MBp/sec
  • With concurrent transfers = 1, transferring many (~2000) small files (< 500Kb) it takes a long time to transfer the files
  • With concurrent transfers > 1, transferring many small files the time it takes to transfer the files goes down in proportion to the number of concurrent connections

I see similar results when uploading.

So I propose adding a feature to FileZilla that would try to optimize the number of connections per server during a file transfer.

One way to go about this might be to sort the queue by file size from large to small and then transfer the large files with one concurrent connection and then the small files with many concurrent connections.

This would be a relatively simple way to go about it. Just put in a conditional cap, "When transfering fileslarger than : xxx, use no more than yyy concurrent connections" and then let the normal concurrent connection cap logic work.

The other way to make this work might be to keep track of the overall transfer rate between the client and server and then vary the connection count and decide which is best. Additionally if the connection count is capped at the server side you should get a too many connections message which would set your uppper bound.

Think of it like an eye exam. "Add one connection?" "Is this better?" "No" or if connections > 1 "Remove one connection?" "No"

Evaluation could be done with every new or closed connection up to a maximum of 10 or a min of 1.

Ok so my use case would seem rather specific I admit it. But a feature like this may also be helpful when transferring trees of files on smaller links.

Sometimes it might make the most sense to transfer one file at a time even though you could transfer 3. Or... Sometimes it might make sense to transfer 3 at a time rather than one. Again the whole link saturation thing vs time to start new files.

#2360 Add "Folder size" option new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Can an option "Folder size" been added to the context- menu of directories?

In other FTP clients (such as FTP Voyager) there is a very usefull option called "Folder size", which recursively walks through the tree below that folder and counts all files and subdirs below.

Thanks in advance, and success with the project!

#8027 Add "Logoff from system" to list of options for "Action after queue completion" new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Please add the option to log off the currently logged in user.

I have never really understood the need to either reboot a system after a file transfer completes (perhaps the rare case that you are transferring a file that is read after boot) however the case I frequently need to do is: start a file upload, leave the system unattended, when the upload completes log off the user performing the upload.

For windows my current work around is use "run command..." and do "shutdown /l /f" however it would be nice if this was integrated in to the program itself as I do not know the equivalent command for Mac or Linux which I sometimes need to do also.
